Forum:Ideas for front page

I am fully aware there's a similar existing topic but what the hellk, I'm starting a new one because I'm a miscreant. This is in direct reaction to the Illlogicopedia V2 proposal and centres around making the front page:

  1. Welcoming to newberts
  2. Accessible and streamlined
  3. More community centred
  4. More professional

This is obviously going to be an ongoing thing running concurrently with the Article Improvement Drive, slowly but surely I'm hoping the front page will be redesigned to reflect our newfound independence.

To start us off, I've added a new space saving projects template which will be tested out for a while, I was thinking of adding an icon or two as well.

Additionally, I want to start a drive in which some trusted users patrol the front page regularly. At the moment, this is kind of unofficial - I tend to look after the DYK template whilst Testicles vets the News one. I think it's important we keep the element of user customisation on the front page, makes it kind unique but I still get the feeling a lot of users are put off from using it. Is there some way to make the news template more inviting?
