Very good work on the new format. Looking more organised. Award yourself a chocolate biscuit as reward! -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 15:53, 24 Ergust 2007 (UTC)

/me takes the chocolate biscuit. What? I did it on Uncyc first! But here, Divine guy, you can have it. I just had a bagel.-Ljlego 15:48, 26 Ergust 2007 (UTC)
Cheers for letting us steal, er, I mean, borrow the format for our VFH. Another round of chocolate biscuits to all concerned! Oh, wait, I already ate them all... -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 18:29, 26 Ergust 2007 (UTC)
Heh; thanks for the (most significant) inspiration! It's not a straight copy of the Uncyc implementation, though, as I did some things my own way. (though this is mostly relevant to someone reading the wikicode. I fully acknowledge that the overall display is - apart from being a bit less flashy - quite the ripoff) For example, note the absence of a parameter for the name of the article on the voting form template. --The Divine Fluffalizer 02:15, 27 Ergust 2007 (UTC)
I don't mind. Like I said before (on my talk, granted): I'm glad to help out another wiki, a family project of Uncyc no less. Plus, this is basically what my incarnation looked like before the spiffing up by a hifalutin' guy called Spang over there. Hindleyite knows who I'm talking about. You could too. In any case, cheerio. Good show transwiki-ing it.-Ljlego 02:59, 1 Serpeniver 2007 (UTC)
Erm, also, what's up with the formatting. It's all messy and whatnot.-Ljlego 23:32, 2 Serpeniver 2007 (UTC)
Are you using Internet Explorer? I just checked using it, and indeed it all looked rather mashed up on this page. Using Firefox, as I usually do and did when I made the page, it however looks fine. I guess I have some fixing to do... --The Divine Fluffalizer 11:01, 3 Serpeniver 2007 (UTC)
Seems fine to me. I'm using the latest version of Internet Explorer on a Windows OS. -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 12:07, 3 Serpeniver 2007 (UTC)
Seeing as I never use it save for testing compatibility, I've not bothered upgrading IE from version 6. And in IE6 it looks messed up. But not when you preview from the edit page, for some reason. Oh well... --The Divine Fluffalizer 16:00, 3 Serpeniver 2007 (UTC)

How long do articles stay on the VFH page - should there be a time limit imposed or something? --Testostereich(ballsack) 15:41, 17 Serpeniver 2007 (UTC)

Currently, as long as the nomination is not declared "featured" or "failed". I guess we could introduce a featuring queue as Uncyc has and place ones now basically settled but remaining open there while waiting for their turn. Then votes can be marked with a "status=queued" parameter as soon as the outcome is decided and be moved from the active votes listing. --The Divine Fluffalizer 20:29, 17 Serpeniver 2007 (UTC)

Time for a change (i.e. it's time to get rid of the ones that have been in there for ages)

(shakes things up)--Testostereich(ballsack) 16:15, 8 Octodest 2007 (UTC)

I've got an idea. If an article on the failed noms list has a higher score than any currently on the main list on feature day, it ought to be featured first. It might be a pain to check but might help out when we're running out of features. Like, if we have a feature week, with a new featured article every day or something. -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 18:48, 8 Octodest 2007 (UTC)
sounds like a plan, now if we work out a way to display all the scores together that have ever been nominated, indicating the failed and unfailed ones--Silent Penguin 18:52, 8 Octodest 2007 (UTC)
Firstly when shall we have this feature week 'cos it sounds like a dead good idea that for once should be followed through. Secondly I've finished spicing things up again, should we have a limit on the number of noms etc. --Testostereich(ballsack) 11:58, 29 Octodest 2007 (UTC)
I added a colored indicator to the listings, so now the status of all closed votes can be seen here. --The Divine Fluffalizer 16:38, 29 Octodest 2007 (UTC)
Err, the page is all broke for me, the logo is in a funny place and all the tabs are fooked. --Silent Penguin 17:35, 13 Novelniver 2007 (UTC)
Now? (I just added __NOEDITSECTION__ on a whim, which seems to have done it for me using IE6, where it had been messed up for some time as noted further up) --The Divine Fluffalizer 18:13, 13 Novelniver 2007 (UTC)

Rename[edit source]

Move to VFF? seems like a more sensible name to me, and fits with what everywhere else calls it :D --Silent Penguin 15:07, 2 Arply 2008 (UTC)

No. Move it to YNQ. It's a more illogical name. -- Kippers Talk Crap Special & Randumb! 18:43, Apr. 2, 2008
Anything to distinguish from Unclepeteopedia (not used that for a while!). If we change, bagsy not fixing the redirects. -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 19:52, 2 Arply 2008 (UTC)
Going ahead with VFF; if you can think of a more illogical name that is still descriptive, feel free to re-rename! --Fluffalizer 20:29, 2 Arply 2008 (UTC)
Good thing I don't use Unclepeteopedia. Otherwise I'd be screwed.-Ljlego 23:49, 17 Arply 2008 (UTC)

Something's up with this[edit source]

Check out a voting page after you've laid your vote down. --TReich (My Bad) 12:16, 26 Novelniver 2008 (UTC)

Yep, I noticed that too when we moved here, but thought it not so much of a major thing. It could have been worse... might be worth looking at the coding - perhaps not compatible with this version of MediaWiki? -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 12:56, 26 Novelniver 2008 (UTC)

OK, what's going on?[edit source]

All the old candidates still appear to be there, but the edit feature claims they do not exist. What the schnap is going on? The Sith Lord Of Illogicness! 22:18, 10 Aym 2009 (UTC)

VFF has exploded![edit source]

Oh no, who will save us? -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 12:04, 18 Jumbly 2010 (UTC)

Probably the DPL God. He has yet to save any of our other screwed up DPL coding though, those damn DPL thieves —rms talk 17:22, 18 Jumbly 2010 (UTC)

Aw dammit, how do I delete an entrey?[edit source]

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWH NAWWWWWWWW HAO DO I DELETEZ IT?

Let's face it[edit source]

Featured articles no longer exist. It's been just this one page for months. XY007talkcontributions 01:05, 23 Arply 2015 (UTC)

Hasn't anything...[edit source]

passed the health quota? I believe that if we were organised like Uncyc, then all our nominations would have been removed months ago. Icons-flag-au.png Operator XY - (Conversal :: Editations - 7,284 and counting!) 23:27, 2 Ergust 2016 (UTC)

Oops?[edit source]

I added a vote and a comment to the two existing VFF pages, but they weren't showing up here, so I purged the page and now it says "Extension:DynamicPageList (DPL), version 3.1.1: Warning: No results." What's going on?  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 02:31, 18 Yoon 2018 (UTC)

I dug around and found this: "Functionality compatible with Wikimedia's DPL extension can be invoked with <DynamicPageList> .... </DynamicPageList>." I thought I'd try that just in case, and lo and behold the nominations are back on the page. OTOH there's an error at the top and some of the nominations have broken headers and voting templates. Still better than nothing, though.  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 06:45, 6 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)
I was able to make all the headers display properly, but the broken nominations are still broken. These are:
I don't know what these have in common that makes them behave this way, but it must be something. Note how they're broken: the VFF template is turned into plain text and the text inside it displays twice, the second time mangled by apparently being partly interpreted as DPL code. I have nowhere near the technical skills to fix this.  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 02:23, 7 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)
I am not understanding that-which-is-happening-here ?
I clicked through a couple of the links and they look fine to me. Am I looking at them wrong? Here's what I see for (MLK - "K"):

(SORRY -- I have entirely mutilated the formatting here. Snarglefoop (talk))
(I try to fix some, or at least mutilate it more differently...)

Snarglefoop (talk) 23:26, 7 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)

No, it's not the pages themselves that are broken. If you go directly to them you won't see the problem. They're displaying incorrectly on the main VFF page. I guess I wasn't clear enough.  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 23:46, 7 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)
Oh. Thanks -- I C. (I did, in fact, eventually figure that out but then before I could post an "Oops I stupid" comment, I got edit-conflicted.) Snarglefoop (talk) 23:50, 7 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)

Now Illogicopedia:VFF/Plagiarism has joined this list. What changed about it? Here's what. 2+2 and The Pioneer left a vote and a comment respectively. How did that break it? 2+2's signature is on non-broken pages, and The Pioneer's signature doesn't appear anywhere else on VFF.  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 19:13, 11 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)

Illogicopedia:VFH/magnetic trousers has joined this list.  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 04:05, 2 Jeremy 2019 (UTC)

I briefly commented out The Pioneer's signature to see if that would fix it. It did. I think we've found part of the problem, but that signature isn't present on all the broken nomination pages. There may be multiple people with bad code in their signatures.  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 04:17, 2 Jeremy 2019 (UTC)

We need a new feature[edit source]

There hasn't been one for I don't remember how long, and the stuff on VFF has been sitting around for years. Could something be featured maybe in the near future? What are the criteria? I couldn't find them.  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 04:22, 9 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)

Judging by Illogicopedia:Votes for Feature/Featured, the bar to pass is +3 total. Also, the last featured article passed on 26 July last year. That's a long time ago. We've got plenty of articles on VFF that are at least +3, so somebody needs to step in. Somebody with a higher privilege level. Anyone?  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 04:30, 9 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)
Gosh, I guess I'd better get to work on this. Trouble is I don't know how you do it. I couldn't find any instructions.  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 06:42, 29 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)
Here's what you should do, I guess.
  1. Add the introduction part of an FA to {{Featured}} (fully protected, something I can't do).
  2. Add {{Feature18}} to the FA page (I've created the template, though I think there should be some minor mods). Older votes should be handled first.
    • I'm not sure whether it's OK to feature multiple articles at the same time. One way to do so, however, is probably using <choose uncached><option></option></choose>. For some reasons, this tag won't work when not uncached
  3. Add the articles to Illogicopedia:Featured articles (which will (probably) be automatically done this year by DPL).
  4. Also don't forget to add some older articles to the archives (I will try whether I can make it automatic).
--The Pioneer (A.K.A. かいたくしゃ) 12:24, 29 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)
Wow, you're thorough. That sounds about right -- you're also supposed to close the nomination, which wasn't done for the last one. A parameter of some sort. I've never heard of multiple articles being featured at once, but apparently they can be queued. I see everything from 2014 on is missing from the archive.  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 19:21, 29 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)
We have a feature now. Yay!  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 23:08, 29 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)
