From here, I can see the whole world... or very nearly. It's all laid out, the landscape in every direction almost undefined in the winter twilight. It's eerie, really. Unreal. The light is soft and pink and the lansdcape is as dead as the Masterbaums' horse and the air chill and brisk, but it all feels so alive, somehow. Or perhaps I feel alive.

Must be the height. It's not every day I perch at the top of the old pine, in the fork of the trunk where it just plain ends in two broad branches - the perfect seat for someone my size.


Bloody hard to get to, though.
