Dry Joke

  • There once was a kid named Fred
  • He was walking in the park when a hobo screamed, "PURPLE BOX!!!"
  • This perturbed Fred greatly, regardless he shouldered his bag and went to school.
  • Fred: "Teacher? What's Purple Box?"
  • Teacher: "Don't you EVER say that again in my class! I'm sending you to the principal's office right now!"
  • Fred was sent to the office.
  • Principal: "Why was your teacher mad at you, son?"
  • Fred: "I duno, I only asked her about the Purple Box."
  • Principal: "WHAT?!? That's it, mister! I'm sending you home!"
  • Fred: "Wha--?"
  • The prinicpal immediately called Fred's home, and after a heated exchange of words ten minutes later he was packed into the back of his mother's carten minutes on the way home.
  • Mom: "Why was the Principal mad at you?"
  • Fred: "I told him about a Purple Box."
  • Mom: No more nonsense, Freddy. Tell me what you said."
  • Fred: (staring blankly at his mother) "I asked him about the Purple Box."
  • Mom: "This is the the limit Fred!! You're going to have to explain yourself to your father."
  • Fred is now at home sitting next to his father.
  • Dad: "Why is your mom so miffed today, son?"
  • Fred: "I asked her about the Purple Box."
  • Ded:"... Okay. You need help. I'm sending you to military school in the summer."
  • It is now summertime, and Fred has been shipped off to Wellington Academy.
  • Sergeant: "Private Fred! Why were you sent here?"
  • Fred: "I told my parents, my principal, and my teacher about the Purple Box, sir!"
  • Sergeant: "Alright, with that mouth, I'm kicking you out of the military school and sending you back home WITHOUT a ride!"
  • Fred: "But my house is twenty miles away!"
  • Sergeant: "I guess you'll be walking!"
  • Fred leaves and is now a hobo himself.
  • Fred sees the same hobo, that jumped out and yelled, "Purple Box", kicking a tree.
  • Fred goes over and talks to the hobo.
  • Fred: "Excuse me? What does a Purple Box mean? I've been getting into trouble for saying it."
  • Hobo: "I knew you'd be back for more. If you wanna find out? Meet me on that bench tomorrow at 7:30 and I'll tell you."
  • It is the next day, and Fred is across the street from the bench. He sees the hobo sitting on it and glances at his watch. 7:30.
  • He runs across the street to meet up with the hobo, until he gets hit by a truck.
  • The moral of the story? Always look both ways before you cross.
