Proposal of making Usopedia (a Japanese website of humor and nonsense) a sister wiki of Illogicopedia[edit source]

Hello, Athyria. I am "The Pioneer," and I am a working sysop of Usopedia (usopedia.aioilight.space).

I have made a proposal of making Usopedia a sister wiki of Illogicopedia (read here for more details), and I was advised to ask you (or Dr. Penguin) to proceed on making a deal.

As I have written in the linked page above, Usopedia is the second largest MediaWiki website of humor and nonsense in Japan, and is growing more rapidly than the Japanese version of Uncyclopedia today. It is a promissing website, and several users think that becoming partners with each other is a good deal.

Usopedia is similar to Illogicopedia in that we allow nonsense that would be rejected on Uncyclopedia, and I believe this partnership will be beneficial for the growth of both website. Thus, I am looking forward to recieving a favorable reply.

Thank you for reading.--The Pioneer (talk) 12:38, 16 Aym 2018 (UTC)

To do list (copied and modded from discord)[edit source]

Hi, Athyria, so here you go for the to do list (which we talked about on discord).

  1. Adding interwiki link ja on Illogicopedia.
    • The form should be: https://newusopedia.miraheze.org/wiki/$1
      • Well, we need to think about what you said, but for now, please add the link to Miraheze.
  2. Adding "deletelogentry" to sysops(werewolves) on Illogicopedia.
    • deletelog might be necessary when deleting a page with copyright violation, or for accounts containing personal information, etc.
  3. As for the abusefilter on Uncyclopedia, I guess we can still wait until the community draws a conclusion (thus you don't have to do anything for now).
    • I'll notify you when there's an additional move that you should be involved.

Thanks for reading.--The Pioneer (A.K.A. かいたくしゃ) 20:12, 31 Jumbly 2018 (UTC)

I really hope this interwiki will be done soon... Please note that it is done on other Illogicos hosted by Carlb and on Kamelopedia.--The Pioneer (A.K.A. かいたくしゃ) 03:42, 6 Jeremy 2019 (UTC)
Man, am I the only active crat here or something? Because I'm neither active nor a crat. Done now, though.
In other news, was there any conclusion about the abusefilter thing? -— Athyria User talk:AthyriaUser talk:AthyriaUser talk:Athyria 19:07, 7 Jeremy 2019 (UTC)
This is great, but you also seem to have added checkuser to admins. Why?  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 23:47, 7 Jeremy 2019 (UTC)
Should I not have? I think I just did it because it was already available to admins on other projects, so I made the setting global. -— Athyria User talk:AthyriaUser talk:AthyriaUser talk:Athyria 16:59, 8 Jeremy 2019 (UTC)
It's not a big deal, but it seems strange because there's already a checkuser user group and admins don't also have checkuser-log. I also feel odd having this right. Your call though.  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 18:41, 8 Jeremy 2019 (UTC)
Thanks. I guess what you point out at the forum seems to be right. Well, the abusefilter is working fine here (I guess), because we no longer see spammers being around ever since it was implemented.--The Pioneer (A.K.A. かいたくしゃ) 05:35, 8 Jeremy 2019 (UTC)

Login troubles[edit source]

Hi, I've been having trouble logging back into my account. (I had to re-open a closed tab to write this). I tried contacting you via a second account, but the CAPTCHA was blank. Any way this could be fixed? Kow Tow to Mao (talk) 20:35, 5 Ditzimber 2018 (UTC)

I'm having trouble editing, strange is that it looks like my account was deleted since I had created it in 2011. CAPTCHA does not allow me to edit. Yes, i'ts me! Rhubella Marie (talk) 22:41, 26 Ditzimber 2018 (UTC)
I'm not Athyria, but I can tell you that this site was moved off Carlb's server in 2013 and some time not long afterward the old user database disappeared, so if you didn't log in soon enough your account would have stopped existing.  Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 04:25, 29 Ditzimber 2018 (UTC)
Feck, sorry, I haven't been getting notifications very reliably because the database hates me or something. Uuuuh what he said. She said? That person. Is that a person? -— Athyria User talk:AthyriaUser talk:AthyriaUser talk:Athyria 17:28, 2 Jeremy 2019 (UTC)
You know what, these seem to be separate things, so some actual replies:

@Kow Tow to Mao: Can you clarify what exactly has been the issue (on IRC or discord if need be?)? It's also possible the issues may have since been fixed as we've just updated the server in the last week, but if not it sounds like captcha issues on top of some unspecified login problem, so more information on both would be very helpful in that case. -— Athyria User talk:AthyriaUser talk:AthyriaUser talk:Athyria 17:40, 2 Jeremy 2019 (UTC)

@Rhubella Marie Per what Flyingcat said, the original account info was lost, so you were right to just recreate the account. Per this, two questions - is the captcha broken, or are you just having trouble getting past it (since either is an issue, really) (also it may have since been fixed if it's the former)? And did you recreate the account under the desired name, or do you need a rename as well as rights and edits reassigned? -— Athyria User talk:AthyriaUser talk:AthyriaUser talk:Athyria 17:40, 2 Jeremy 2019 (UTC)

The issue seems to have been fixed. Also, there was no problem with the captcha, nor was the account info lost. When I tried to log in, it gave me notice blocking me to keep me from "hijacking" or some shit. Kow Tow to Mao (talk) 18:23, 4 Farbleum 2019 (UTC)

Kow Tow to Mao: What in the world...? Okay, that is potentially very useful information. Thank you. -— Athyria 11:21, 5 Farbleum 2019 (UTC)

Spam[edit source]

Hey, I am sorry to bother you with this, since you are not as active here as you used to be and are probably working on your own projects, but we have had a rather large influx of spambots recently. Besides just banning the IPs and deleting the pages as they come in, is there a way that we could filter them or block them before they get posted? They are all pretty much the same article over and over. —Marzipan (talk) 00:11, 25 Octodest 2019 (UTC)

Mars Cadbury: Bother away; the real problem is I have no clue what I'm doing and am this close to saying hello to the pavement for the third time today. So general recommendation is probably to look into using AbuseFilter if you aren't already and have some programmable patterns to throw at it - think that'd work? I might be able to look into this more properly later, but I'm kind of busy pretending to be dead at the moment so I have no idea how long that could take. Please, please do not hesitate to just yell at me if that doesn't work/you dunno what to do/it's actually needed for any other reason, though... -— Athyria 20:10, 25 Octodest 2019 (UTC)
Both: I could write one, but I don't have admin rights and the spammer seems fairly sophistocated, so I don't want to post it publically. Could I direct message it to one of you on Discord or post it on IRC? CG098 (talk ₪‎ contribs) 01:23, 27 Octodest 2019 (UTC)
Uuuuh I recommend sending it to both of us and seeing what happens. And/or send it to Jack Phoenix and tell him I told you to? Sorry, I am so distracted currently. >.> -— Athyria 21:46, 29 Octodest 2019 (UTC)
PM sent to Athyria. I don't know Jack Phoenix and I don't know how to contact Mars Cadbury off-site. CG098 (talk ₪‎ contribs) 18:05, 1 Novelniver 2019 (UTC)

Broken old links from external sites[edit source]

Really old links, for example on Uncyclopedia pages, go to illogicopedia.org/wiki/Whatever, without the "en." before illogicopedia.org. These links currently all redirect to the main page, instead of to adding the "en." and arriving at the current URL of the page. --Fluffalizer 14:35, 24 Arply 2021 (UTC)

Crap, we should fix that, huh. -— Athyria 04:41, 25 Arply 2021 (UTC)
Which is to say I'll, er, look into it... it's probably my fault anyway. -— Athyria 04:42, 25 Arply 2021 (UTC)
Okay, I may or may not have fixed it, and I am soooo confused. -— Athyria 01:26, 5 Aym 2021 (UTC)
As a quick test, I removed "en." from the start of some URLs to see what happened. It should redirect to it being added back. It works for e.g. editing this page (which has a ".../w/index.php?..." URL). But it still doesn't work for e.g. viewing your talk page (which has a ".../wiki/..." URL). --Fluffalizer 17:42, 5 Aym 2021 (UTC)
The way the redirects are marked if you've already tried to use a link, it'll probably stay broken because the browser will remember the redirect from before, or something? But also yeah I only redirected http, not https, because https wasn't actually a thing at the time anyway and... I forgot. Maybe I should see if we have a config for those redirects too... -— Athyria 20:00, 5 Aym 2021 (UTC)
My brain hurts but now what you've described now is semi fixed as well. Anything we've already clicked on will still fail (in the same browser). Technology scares me and why are all the entries in the ssl redirects file doubled? Why are they marked 'final'? What is this stuff? -— Athyria 20:20, 5 Aym 2021 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── I haven't tested all possible combinations of things (and I tested after restarting my browser), but now what I first looked at also works, i.e. some late 00s links from Uncyclopedia. --Fluffalizer 15:53, 6 Aym 2021 (UTC)

Whoo, thanks, man! At very least we're in a better position than we were before in terms of functionality, and it's all because of you. -— Athyria 04:01, 7 Aym 2021 (UTC)

We all got a haircut![edit source]

Repent your deBiccing and embrace the true path of manifest falsehoods. If you haven’t deBicced anobody, please ignore this and consider the fact that only a select one of us got a haircut. He Lois funny now, so we told him we all got haircuts too, in order to confuse him and distract the deep wailing of his broken soul. Cheers! 75.67.232.90 02:20, 15 Ergust 2021 (UTC)

Error on rollback[edit source]

The following sometimes happens on "ghosting"/rollback of edits, easily seen after the recent spate of vandalism. It works to make a more normal edit, as with the "undo" action, though. I'm guessing this is what Senny also experienced.

Fugg. Yeah. We're trying to move the server to one that'll actually be able to handle all this proper except it's not working because everyone involved is basically dying and/or too busy trying to not die, or something. So we have this fancy new server that's just sitting there completely unused. So stupid. Sorry, man. -— Athyria 22:49, 21 Novelniver 2021 (UTC)

Requesting re-admining[edit source]

As suggested to me by others when I came back 3 years ago after some years of absence, I request becoming an admin again. Back then, I didn't want to request that and risk it becoming a false start, not doing much thereafter. But I think that was pointless, as others have likewise been drifting in and out during these years of inaction, and another small-time admin is better than none. I think I'd do more as an admin, starting with tidying up some things I can't currently reach because of page protections, and then there's vandalism to take care of from time to time... --Fluffalizer 08:21, 9 Farbleum 2022 (UTC)

Fluffalizer: Fugg. Yeah, okay, that makes sense. Sorry, would have responded/stuff sooner, but I lost this in a computer upgrade, so I'll just do it now. Moral of the story, don't mess with computers. -— Athyria 23:41, 21 Farbleum 2022 (UTC)
