Forum:Who do I ask about creating new ?pedia languages?

From Illogicopedia
Jump to navigation Jump to search

I want to make a Klingon Illogicopedia but I don't know who is the admin of the interlanguage/interwiki stuffz. I know that nerdy guy is the admin of En:, but... well, you get the idea. What user should I ask about that? Dan the Hedgehog is in the house! 05:21, 7 Arply 2011 (UTC)

Hah haaah!
I think a similar matter came up before and we concluded that articles in all 'non languages', made up ones nobody is actually a native speaker of (Gibberish, Pig Latin etc.), should be made on the main Illogicopedia. For example, if you wanted to start the Klingon article about Gordon Bennett, it would be at Kl:Gordon Bennett here at en. For Illogicopedias in actual languages, like, German and stuff, there's a request page. -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 10:57, 7 Arply 2011 (UTC)
Don't feel bad, Dan. My request for another language was rejected too! And it was even a real language!--Colonel Sanders 11:17, 7 Arply 2011 (UTC)
Does Wikipedia have a version in that language? If not, then expect Silent Penguin to get mad. Maddddd! Just like in this picture ------>

Yes.--Colonel Sanders 13:41, 7 Arply 2011 (UTC)
Um, Nerd42 says that it's an actual language that's grown far beyond TV on my talk page. Apparently, they've translated the bible into it. He says that he wants to definitely make sure I get a chance to start a Klingon Illogicopedia project.
But my question still hasn't been answered. Who is the interwiki/interlanguage admin/guru/boss/Darth Vader/whatever you call him? Dan the Hedgehog is in the house! 14:48, 7 Arply 2011 (UTC)
Colonel, I guess the next step would be to get a couple of users to agree to help start the project then pester Seppmeister, who will in turn have to ask Carlb if it's fine. Try Silent Pengwing's talkpage.
Dan, I suspect you also require Carl, but I like getting Seppy's opinion on things before we go ahead and do it. Cuz he, like, owns the domains and stuff. -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 14:51, 7 Arply 2011 (UTC)
I don't recall ever meeting a guy called Seppmeister, could you link me to his page? Dan the Hedgehog is in the house! 15:06, 7 Arply 2011 (UTC)
User talk:Silent Penguin --founder of this site. Monkey-butler.jpg Sincerely, islandmonkey - go speak 15:28, 7 Arply 2011 (UTC)
Just finished asking him. Dan the Hedgehog is in the house! 17:05, 7 Arply 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, apologies for not being clear. I assumed you'd have come across Silent Penguin at some point during your time here. Oh how things've changed from the days when SP would utilise his nefarious mind controls to direct us to his browser-crashing userpage within seconds of finding Illogicopedia. Now, he mostly insults Testostereich's mother over Skype :P -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 17:44, 7 Arply 2011 (UTC)
DOOOMED! Wait, am I in the wrong building? ~ Pointy.png 22:21, 7 Arply 2011

I was not aware of this policy of giving a custom namespace to constructed languages. Can we customize the site to have customized appearances in these namespaces? Having it look right is more important than having it's own subdomain. It can live at illogicopedia.org/wiki/Kli:Main_Page and that's fine, IF it's allowed to have it's own logo and have the whole page be in Klingon and whatnot. --Nerd42 02:42, 8 Arply 2011 (UTC)

Of course - that's the whole point of namespaces, the styling! Well, among a few other technical details... technical details are fun. Sometimes they taste funny, though.
Whole page, though? Does mediawiki support klingon? ~ Pointy.png 03:23, 8 Arply 2011
I don't know. First person to find out gets free gagh! Hurry, while it's still wigglin'! :) --Nerd42 04:35, 8 Arply 2011 (UTC)
Yay for gagh! Qapla'!
About the "kli: namespace having its own logo" thing, well, that should be easy. I know how. And the "whole page being in Klingon" thing is also easy; heck, I did it with the tlhIngan page here. Dan the Hedgehog is in the house! 05:08, 8 Arply 2011 (UTC)
@Nerd: Up to now they haven't been getting their own namespace as such, just a 'fake' one that resides in the mainspace as a bunch of regular articles. It is an interesting idea, however. I wish I knew more about the javascript codings and such because it would be pretty cool. -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 12:39, 8 Arply 2011 (UTC)
Hi! Remember me? I think that if we do make a Klingon namespace, it shouldn't be Kl: or Kli:. It should be Tlh: because the Klingon word for the Klingon language is "tlhIngan-Hol." Who agrees? Dan the Hedgehog is in the house! 00:06, 9 Arply 2011 (UTC)
That would... keep it consistent with other such endeavours. ~ Pointy.png 00:26, 9 Arply 2011
Just like Fr:, Nl:, No: and Pt:. Now who do I ask about creating a new namespace? Dan the Hedgehog is in the house! 02:40, 9 Arply 2011 (UTC)
