Why, what are they?

Special Pages, often associated mentally-handicapped articles, are there to help you find certain links, usually for administrating or just for anally-retentive knowledge. You can find a link to the list of special pages near the bottom of the task bar on the left, or a more condensed (yet expandable) version is available in the recent changes screen. Awesome, help page done.
