Yes, the time for talking has ended: the time for action is upon us. Over the course of the next month, maybe sooner, Illogicopedia will make the complete transition to a new server kindly provided by Carlb of Uncyclopedia Babel fame.

New Illogicopedias:

Both the .org and .com domain point to the site, so you'll only need to update your bookmarks if you had the wikia.com address.

Cool, so this is the much talked about 'independence', right?[edit | edit source]

Seppy right before thinking 'this is the final straw'.

It was always Illogicopedia's intention to go it alone at some point. Whilst this move isn't total independence in that it isn't strictly community funded, it is hoped this transition is a step in the right direction giving us greater choice and customisation over the wiki. For a start, the adverts will be removed without having to utilise a Javascript hack and good old Monobook will once again be instated as the default skin.

In general terms, yes, this is the 'independence' of the discussions.

Right. So what do I have to do?[edit | edit source]

Please edit the new wiki rather than the Wikia one. Admins will not be exporting edits made after 8th November. We understand that it will take a while for the total transition to occur but once it is complete, the wiki will not close immediately (apparently Wikia like to hang on to 'dead' wikis). Who knows, maybe we will keep this wiki as a mirror in the future if Wikia dislike the idea of shutting it down (that $40 a month ad revenue Illogicopedia generates is ever so precious to them...).

You are required to create a new account on the new wiki as for the moment, no user login data is retained from the Wikia Illogicopedia. Your edits will be retained. You may use this opportunity to create a different name on the new wiki, but we recommend you keep the same one for the sake of record keeping: if you want to change your name, ask an administrator at illogicopedia.org (yes, admins can now perform name changes, another benefit of the move).

Wait, there's one or two other things[edit | edit source]

The transition, whilst smoother than we expected, has uncovered one or two bugs - for example, some edits might be lost. However we expect these to be minimal: should you encounter any, alert an admin who will import the page from Wikia for you. You may also need to reupload some images (specifically those after 5th November) to the new wiki - the admins are working on this as we speak.

Apart from that, nothing should change. If it does, it's only for the better. All projects are still on course, only at the new wiki rather than this one, so basically just update your bookmarks and treat illogicopedia.org the same way you treated illogicopedia.wikia.com, assuming you weren't using .org already :D

Should any problems occur and both wikis experience downtime, please refer to the Illogiblog for off-site updates. We doubt this will happen but it's best to cover our backs.

Should you ever need to return to the old Wikia, for ease just as much typing, you can type wikia.illogicopedia.org and it will take you back to this wiki.
