Marmite, a black tarry substance mined principally in certain regions of Britain. It has a long ancestral history of use by ancient britons, archaeological data shows that early celts used it for such purposes as waterproofing ships, tanning leather, as a cosmetic and poisoning enemies. To this day it is still a common folk remedy for such complaints as 'lice' 'scurvy' and 'general ugliness'; conditions which were widespread amongst the english in victorian times, and even up to this very day. Scientific studies have been made to test the effectiveness of these remedies, with unfavourable results, most studies concluding that marmite is a poison and harmful to human health.
