An oxymoron is a word, or two-word phrase that combines opposite meanings. The easiest to think of is 'bittersweet'. Here's an unordered list of them to add to your conversation; it will numb the deafening silence.

  • Army Intelligence
  • Civil Servant
  • Easy Payments
  • Working Lunch
  • Corporate Hospitality
  • Amicable Divorce
  • Business Trip
  • Friendly Fire
  • Operator Service
  • Mechanic Moogle
  • Guest Host
  • Metal Woods
  • Executive Decision
  • Mercy Killing
  • Business Ethics
  • Microsoft Works
  • Virtual Reality
  • Jumbo Shrimp
  • Committee Decision
  • Same Difference
  • Free Trade
  • Student Teacher
  • Airline Food
  • Floppy Disk
  • Civil Disobedience
  • Working Holiday
  • Crash Landing
  • Educated Guess
  • Martial Law
  • Paid Volunteer

Example sentence: I was a paid volunteer as a student teacher while the staff were on a business trip. I had to make an educated guess on army intelligence during my working lunch, which led to a committee decision and an inevitable crash landing in finances.

It's clearly subtle - one would subconsciously think I'm just making up facts.

Three more oxymorons right there. Boom.
