Zipedia:Wikinews

Wikinews is a Wikimedia project that creates a newspaper using wikis. It was launched in November 2004, and the Japanese version was established in July 2005. However, it is not a project aimed at breaking news, as articles need to be peer-reviewed before they can be "published." It is more similar in nature to feature articles on a news site.

However, despite the heavy promotion of the management templates and deletion frenzy, the Japanese version is currently underpopulated, and it is not uncommon for no articles to be posted for more than a week. The main page still displays news from months or even years ago, and it no longer functions as a news site at all. In fact, Wikipedia covers the news better, so if you really want to know the news on a Wikimedia project site, I recommend checking it out. Incidentally, Uncyclopedia's UnNews or Zipedia's Zipnews (project that not exist) is updated more frequently.

Unlike Wikipedia, Wikinews allows original research contributions, but such contributions are very rare.
