Apnea

There is a very thin line of empty space that fills the void between you and yourself.

That was a good opening line. I'm not sure I'll be able to match it, however. You see, the idea for this article came to me last night when I was lying in bed, on the edge of sleep. I was drifting through that blank space that comes between consciousness and sleep. Ideas for articles often come to me at that time. The trouble is that sometimes I forget them when I wake up in the morning.

This is one of those unfortunate times. All I remember from last night was that I wanted an article called "Apnea" with an opening line of "There is a very thin line of empty space that fills the void between you and yourself."

Why on earth would I want to write something like that? I suppose I'll never know now. I know there was more to my idea than just that, but now it's lost to my memory forever. It slipped in to the void between me and myself. That thin layer of black mist. Exploration of which causes Apnea.

Apnea is when you're sleeping and you stop breathing, usually for ten seconds or so. After that, you suddenly start breathing again. It's like an off-key note in a song, or an offbeat ant. It makes you think about stuff.
