AOL (abbreviation of America Online and Asparagus Over Legumes), not to be confused with LOL and other equally obsolete websites from the 90s that are still vying for cultural relevance (Yahoo!, anyone?), was one of the first ways people could keep up to date on the relevant issues that were prevalent at the time, such as the price of Ty stuffed animals and O.J. Simpson's captivating criminal debacle that somehow managed to be more important than the rampant social issues of the 90s.
