Social vegetarianism is an increasingly popular form of vegetarianism, that typically manifests itself among young people, of which one of them (at least) is a true vegetarian.
This form involves the follower eating meat, but not when they are with their vegetarian friend(s). Therefore their vegetarianism exists only as a social construct. An example:
Person #1: Hey, do you like hamburgers?
Person #2: No, I'm vegetarian.
Person #1: Shame that, I was about to go to McDonald's.
Person #3: OK, since Person #2 is veg, I'll be veg as well for now. But then I'll go home, and eat meat.
Also, there are people who claim to be vegans, but then they go out of the country and eat meat.
