A popular form of spam. It was the most over-used joke of 2012, and was made old within a matter of months. It has also been a popular example of a formerly funny joke going way, way, way, way, to far. This meme was first seen on the Rizon IRC server.
Basically, when someone says I hate… then something else, you would respond:
“Person 1: I hate…”
“Person 2: WAT BOUT MEAT BALLS?”
“Person 2: YOU HATE MEATBALLS?”
“Person 2: OMG U HATE MEATBALLS DONT TALK TO ME!!!!1!”
This meme can be virtually be used in any context and may be adapted to change meatballs to something else.
Other variations have been seen which instead of using meatballs, the person would use the thing that the other person said they hated, for example:
“Person 1: I hate X.”
“Person 2: WAT? YOU HATE X????”
“Person 2: WAT HAVE X EVER DONE TO YOU???”
“Person 2: OMG U HATE X DONT TALK TO ME!!!!!1!”
( Note how there is a slight variation between the original, most-popular version )
Now, you can't say you hate something on the Internet anymore without some dim-witted moron hastily replying post-by-post to your comment, often not even making sence or at least being accurate to the original or it's deriatives. These thick-skulled dumb-fucks haven't realised that it was funny the first 400 times everyone saw it.
Between 14th July, 2012 and 19th August, 2012, it was the most over-used meme, being more used than the terms Flame war, Troll, n00b, White-Knight and even Spam. Between those two dates, if you even posted anything with the word "hate" in it, it would be replied immediately by this, even if it wasn't appropriate or fitting.
