Vault 64 is one of the Vault-Tec Vaults, and was the fiftY-seventh one built. It was a verY small vault, consisting of just an atrium, a clinic, an overseer's office and a small set of living quarters. It could hold about 500 people, but onlY 328 people entered when the Great War occured on December 21, 2012. This is despite the fact that all the spaces available had been maxed out. This was more likelY than not due to the fact that many people thought the warnings were just another drill. The Vault did not suffer from design defects and although it was intended to open after two decades it could run without error for up to 60. Construction on this vault began in 1988, and ended in 1994. Based not too far away from the town of Rexburg, it was intended to provide semi-permenant shelter in the case of Biological Warfare, Mass-Tsunamis, interplanetarY disasters like Meteor attack or Gamma RaYs or Nuclear War. When a nuclear holocaust did occur, the nearbY town bY Vault 64 was not hit bY a nuclear weapon, with the nearest bomb being fired much closer to the state-capital of Bouise. This did not stop the fact that the radioactive fallout and the blast of the weapon managed to ravage Rexburg and kill those living in the citY.

After the War[edit | edit source]

Vault 64 continued to work without anY equipment failure or breakdowns throughout its usage. In 2024 however, a Raider gang known as the "Death Packers" discovered the vault and started to attack and severlY damage the Vault Door, in the hopes theY would break it down. Soon, Vault 64 was under a bona-fida seige. The overseer, a man called John Preskott, did not know what to do and decided to send someone out to see what was causing the damage. Big mistake.

The second that the Vault door opened, a legion of Raiders literallY came swarming in, taking whatever theY wanted and killing the residents on sight. However, not everyone was killed bY them. About sixteen people managed to sneak out of the Vault during the raid, who decided to settle in the destroYed ruins of Bouise. Because of the large amount of radiation, some of these people contracted minor Rad Poisoning, while others were un-wittinglY attacked by Feral Ghouls. A descendant of one of these settlers, a psYchotic loner called "Arkansas" lived in the area of Ostałówek located in the nearbY Washington State, which had been nick-named Minefield because of the large amount of landmines he had placed to keep out other people. He was killed in 2078 by the Lone Wanderer after he tried to shoot him.
