Verden
Verden is a small planet located in the Glx System, in Mutter's Spiral. Neighbouring planets include Calufrax, Argolis and Segonax. The main species were the Domnains, with an estimated population of sixty-million, give or take. The planet has been in a crippling state of civil war since 1952 A.D, with the nation of Republic of Molossia refusing to become part of the Aerican Empire. The leader of the republic of Molossia, Ehnutrof Uestte, is regarded as a Cameronist and totalitarian dictator. The concept of democracy is alien to the planet. The planet of Verden as a whole has the second worst quality of living in the Glx system, right under Segonax. Mustaistan is officially the largest country on the planet, with over 2000 miles of land and 26% of the populace residing there. In contrast, the nation of Sark is officially the smallest, being less than a tenth of the size of Mustaistan.
The majority of the planet is part of a limited-scale empire called the Aerican Empire, which is a monarchy under King Leuo Jnmhavian I. The country of Redonda is the richest country on the planet, being worth roughly the equivalent of $72560,7200,320. Redonda is also the place of origin of the Aerican Empire. The Aerican Empire introduced the first currency to the planet, known as the Valor. The planet does not have a space program, and is officially registered as a B-Class Planet as of 2004. The only non-aristocracy on the planet is the previously-mentioned Republic of Molossia, which has warred with bordering nations for centuries. Molossia is also the most militarized country on the planet, with 61% of the population being part of the 字漢,文˙韓/؛ 字漢 (Roughly translated to Tonlloui Namtabéat, meaning the Resistance Army of the Republic).
Basic History[edit | edit source]
The earliest life-forms on the planet of Verden date to around 20,000 B.C. These were reptillian quadropeds which developed in the island that would later become known as Redonda. This species would eventually die out, but some other life-forms would begin to develop in the same area, most notably the Domnain. Around 6000 B.C - 200 B.C can be considered the Domnain Stone age, with limited intelligence and primitive technology. It did not take long, however, until the species began to spread out accross the continents. One of the last areas to be populated was Sark, which was not civilised until as late as 1890 A.D. The first advanced technology developed was in the area of Ahnpdakshni, a small nation bordering Mustaistan. Saahlookin Noslark is generally credited as having being one of the greatest of the early Domnain philosophers.
The largest religion is Silinism, with an estimated 45% of the population of Verden. The origin of the religion is from the province of Pashndavhnius. Silinism believes in several deities, including Nourhvandha and Himphnuxn. It is a non-violent religion, with the acts of murder and arson being considered to automatically make someone a heretic to the religion. Seignur Tnomueab is the founder of the religion, around 102 A.D. The equivalent of the Priests in the religion are known as Seignurs. Being a Seignur involves a lot of slack, as one is forbidden from vices like Ale and Recreation. The main languages of the planet are Metastas (Most common in Molossia), Mafalda (Most common in Mustaistan and surrounding countries), Nukahlon (Most common in the Grand Republic of Vuldstein and several smaller areas) and Adlitan Vizhajoriz (A language spoken in several tiny islands dis-connected from the rest of the world).
Modern History[edit | edit source]
Verden has, for several decades, been in a crippling civil war which has led to the death of nearly fifteen million people, or 21% of the former population. The opponents are between Molossia and the Aerican Empire, but both sides have seen rapid advances in weapons and communications technology since the start of the war. Since the beginning of the Humanarian Era, things have escalated to the point where the Galactic Federation has been debating on whether or not to get involved. Several species have also been wiped out due to the conflict. The purpose of the war is that former king of Redonda, Uneomph Jnmhavian II, annexed Molossia. Molossia has since started attacking and mass-murdering people in areas of Mustaistan and the Grand Republic of Vuldstein, under orders by Ehnutrof Uestte. The resulting famine caused by the destruction of crops during the war has managed to kill more than the war has itself.
