“It's not supposed to be "tasty", it is synthetic blood. Unless you are afflicted with vampirism or something similar, then there is no reason for you to be drinking True Blood.”

“All flavor. No bite.”

~ Official Advertising Slogan, 2006.
A bottle of true-blood. Produced 2010.

True Blood (marketed as Tru*Blood) is a form of synthetic blood which catered to the vampire population, the release of Tru Blood was the main catalyst for the Great Revelation - With vampires world-wide coming out and revealing themselves to the general public. True Blood is marketed as an alternative blood source for vampires and meets all their nutritional needs. However, many vampires have found the beverage to not taste as "natural and clean" as regular blood does. It comes in as many flavors as there are blood types (e.g. B Negative, O Positive). It has been seen to be as expensive as $45 a bottle in hotels.

There is also a small group of fans of the drink who are not vampires, but consume it because of the taste. These people are rather embarrassed about telling others about it, these include HoloNet presenter Perez Hilton, dictator Kim Jong-Il, Friedensreich Hundertwasser and Safwat Hijazi.

Background[edit | edit source]

In the dark times of the universe, out of the dark bowls of hell itself the Great Vampires rose. Coming out of an unlikely vortex from Yssgaroth's Universe, as they suddenly and un-expectedly invaded ours. These parasitic, long-lived creatures were unlike anything seen before them, as they were so powerful that one of them could drain a whole planet dry. They could absorb energy in almost any form and survive numerous minor wounds. The only way to kill one was to stab them through the heart, usually with a steel bolt. More powerful Great Vampires needed to have their heart fully destroyed in order to kill them. They did have a leader, known as the King Vampire, who dictated over them. However, after fifty years of a brutal war with the Elohim, they were killed off. But they had a nasty, diabolical legacy: They carried a plague with them which spread through many planets. This was known as "Vampirism" on Earth; an infected being would be incredibly long-lived and powerful, but they would be harmed by the sun and required blood to keep going. For centuries they were thought to just be legends, with the most definable case being Vlad Tepes Dracula, who was an infamous count of Romania. But in 2002 this near-legendary status ended with the introduction of True Blood, a drink and form of synthetic blood brewed in China which no-longer required vampires to hide in the dark undergrounds.

Billboard for Tru*Blood in Moscow. Blood Type-O is being advertised.

Reaction to the vampires' "Great Revelation" is mixed. The policy in Islamic planets and countries is death and torture for vampires, while nations including Bosnia, Argentina and most African nations refuse to acknowledge their existence. Some planets, including Kamino and Breton also gave this reaction in the majority of their continents. Some nations, such as France, Italy, the planet Coruscant and Germany acknowledge vampires, but do not torture them nor do they give them the rights of citizens. The American Republic on Leipzig, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Switzerland, North America and the Seoul Dynasty are more tolerant; however, even in these areas they are not permitted certain rights like the right to marry. The only place where they were initially given 100% citizenship was in Tibannopolis, the second largest city on Bespin. Rather than acknowledging the legend that vampires are deceased humans that have risen from the dead to prey on the living, the vampires insist they are simply the victims of a medical condition that makes them allergic to sunlight and affects their dietary needs.
