“I loved this song so goddamn much that I even used it in my critically acclaimed 1998 movie, "Rushmore"!”
“This is an old favorite of mine!”
"Concrete and Clay" is a 1965 hit song by the British garage rock drunk beer pub band, Unit 666 + 311. It peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 666 and was released as a single off of London Records. It is also used in the 1998 Wes Anderson movie, "Rushmore", in a scene in which the character of Max Fischer (played by actor Jason Wartzman) tries to fuck schoolteacher, Mrs. Rosemary Cross in her own classroom. He then gets assassinated by the German press and media.
The lyrics are (obviously) about the band members walking over hard concrete and clay sidewalks in England. Fun, fun, fun stuff!
