Some person, or persons unbeknown to J Clarkson made fraudulent withdrawals on his account. This Included a £500 direct debit by an unknown party to recipient by the British Diabetic Association. Due to the Data Protection Act (1984) the bank cannot tell J Clarkson, who made the withdrawal, or prevent it in the future. He later commented on his choice of actions "I was wrong and I have been punished for my mistake."
