And according to a reliable source[1] all you need is a thermometer, an alcohol lamp, and a needle. Oh, and some string. Oh, and a lighter. Aaaand some alcohol (for the lamp). Then you light the lamp (with the lighter), tie the needle to the thermometer (with the string), put the supposed heroin on the needle, and heat it up until it melts, and voila, Bob's your uncle (unless Bob's too busy getting high, in which case Bob's on leave).
