Illogicopedia talk:Don't feed the trolls

Hmm, it seems many wikis think ignoring vandals will make them go away. I have to say that this is not always the case, especially deliberately ignoring them. Most vandals do have a desire for recognition and infamy and excessive acknowledgment will of course fuel them further - but at the same time outright ignoring them often causes anger and will fuel more destructive vandalism in an attempt to spite and prove wrong the theory. I'm not really making this comment in regards to Illogicopedia as it doesn't have much of a vandal problem, it's more of a general musing. Feel free to ignore, I know many will. - Well, you're damNed if you do, damNed if you don't with trolls. Basically this page is saying 'leave things up to the admins who will decide whether communicating with the vandal is the best thing to do': in most cases, as we have seen on Illogicopedia, if you ignore them they will eventually push off. Also, note the word filter evasion in the first sentence there ;) -- Hindleyak Converse • ?blog • Click here! 12:01, 20 Novelniver 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I guess I was having a go at Wikipedia with that; they bring it on themselves with their "don't negotiate with vandals" crap. I mean, why the hell not if you can stop a vandal and gain an editor? They actually create vandals by being so unwilling to accept someone back who once vandalized. Illogicopedia has the best way of dealing with it as you welcome us into the community. That's me talking, hoping I've been accepted back ^_^ Jезка 13:29, 20 Novelniver 2008 (UTC)
