Not to be confused with Paper-Rock-Scissors-Punch In The Mouth
Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock is a higher-dimensional representation of the simpler and frankly more boring game Rock Paper Scissors.
Formal Definition[edit | edit source]
Given Set S1 defined as {a,b,c,d,e} such that a,b,c,d,e are valid actions under rules R, then outcome function ∏(A1,A2) will determine whether player P1 or P2 will win, with A1 and A2 being the respective chosen actions of each player from set S1.
The outcome function ∏(A1,A2) returns an output according to this table:
a | b | c | d | e | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
a | tie | b | a | a | e |
b | b | tie | c | d | b |
c | a | c | tie | c | e |
d | a | d | c | tie | d |
e | e | b | e | d | tie |
Substituting values "Rock", "Paper", "Scissors", "Lizard", and "Spock" for a,b,c,d,e respectively, one gets the rules of the game.
Mathematical Properties of the Game[edit | edit source]
Below are some mathematical properties that always hold true:
- When playing in three players, if three distinct options are chosen and they are not adjacent in the directed graph representation of this game, then there will always be a definite winner.
- This models the hypothetical alpha-male battles of cockatoos because of their characteristically characteristic-based battles, which characteristically take place on the characteristic island of Wales.
- The probability of two players reaching a tie with this game as opposed to the standard RPS drops by 64% (proportionally).
