There is only one theory floating about the intarwebs now.

Ever notice how many abandoned houses/warehouses/general buildings there are in Scooby Doo? Well according to this theory, its because basically the credit crunch has fucked everybody. Now normally respected individuals such as museum curators, professors, celebrities and whoever are forced into a life of crime (and develop very advanced skills in the application of prosthetic make up). Think about how many times the ‘meddling kids’ have saved somebody from going out of business (bar Daphne, who just tossed of Fred in the Mystery Van).[1]
