Forum:Ideas to bring in new users

Right, This is a subject we haven't tackled in quite a while, New Users. How do we go about bringing more in? Anyone got any ideas?
I checked out things like Webtools, and the traffic that we get coming in from google isn't exactly the sort that would want to stay. We need to get ourselves known more, our current barrier is that we arn't getting onto the major sites, the ones that mean something for internet precedence, with the exception of google. So, what do we do? --Silent PenguinLeave Me Alone 15:00, 2 Arply 2008 (UTC)
- We club together and start producing porn films by the barrel load; That never fails to entice anyone. But seriously I wouldn't know. First we have to decide where we want to get new users from? Do they come from uncyclopedia, do they come from web forums, games websites, the street? Either we hunt for sources of likeminded people who enjoy illogical surreal bursts of creativity and joining communities on the internet, or we shamelessly parade ourselves upon every given space. I really don't know where or how to advertise us but I'm willing to do some monkey work for us if necessary. I always thought uncyc was a good source of people from us, seeing as illogicopedia was conceived on there. --
- For the porn films. I can provide the Vaseline.
- The Uncyc migration continues to be our best source of users. That's what the Uncyc user talk pages are for... it seems that Uncyc feeds of the Wikipedians whilst we feed off the Uncycers. Also, we need to think out of the box. That's easier said than done - we've been thinking about this for 9 months and a few good things have come out of it: the pickles, the blog etc. IllogiTV never took off cos I don't really have the time to maintain regular video updates - a pity cos I think YouTube is full of potential Illogicopedians. Maybe a propaganda video is in order? Hail the flying penguins.
- Who are our main target audience? Bored schoolkids? Bloggers? Anyone? Hard to tell.
- I vote for a well placed viral, be it a video or a game or something. -- Hindleyak Converse • ?blog • Click here! 18:43, 2 Arply 2008 (UTC)
- We cant just rely on uncyc as our source, we do need other things to draw in a variety of users. I like the idea of a propaganda video, and/or some sort of viral sounds good to me, no matter how much i hate virals :P --Silent PenguinLeave Me Alone 18:56, 2 Arply 2008 (UTC)
