Glass Houses (and throwing stones)
Everyone has heard the phrase, "Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." What is it about living in a glass house that would give one a predisposition for throwing stones? Throwing stones is a problem and shouldn't be done regardless of where you live, but you never hear, "Those in brick villas shouldn't throw stones." And why stones? Wouldn't any other projectile break the glass of a glass house just as easily. Those in glass houses probably shouldn't throw baseballs, but once again, that's not the phrase either. And throwing isn't even necessary. Those in glass houses shouldn't kick stones, but the phrase only accounts for throwing stones.
And who is living in all of these glass houses. That's just not something that is common enough to base an adage off of. If I went to a dinner party and the house was made of glass, that would be the only thing I talked about all night. And if you own a glass house, you are definitely too wealthy and classy to ever throw let alone put your hands on a stone. Rioters and looters are people who throw stones. Rioters and looters do not own glass houses. But why would you want a glass house? You think animals at a zoo like living in a glass house? I'm not actively ashamed of most of what I do during the day, but that doesn't mean that I'd be okay with groups of people staring at me as I eat a bowl of Cheerios.
In summation[edit | edit source]
It was hard to write this without stealing comedians jokes.
