Yeah, it's weird that you can protect them. You actually couldn't until fairly recently. The change makes sense when you realize that the right to edit the interface can be assigned to other groups and so protecting an interface page could lock them out. In fact, there's now such a group defined in core MediaWiki, which we have. ❦ Flyingcat (meow?)fr: 12:08, 11 Farbleum 2019 (UTC)
