Two Fish In A Tank

“Fish, as a general rule, do not make great tank drivers.”
There are two fish in a tank.
One turns to the other and says: "So, how do drive this thing?".
I Don't Get It[edit | edit source]
How do you not get it? The first line makes you think there are two fish in a fish tank right? But then, when you read the second line, you're all like, oh wow, they're actually in an army tank and not a fish tank at all. It makes you realise you were thinking of the wrong tank all along!
That's not very funny[edit | edit source]
Of course its funny! Oh what are you? The joke connoisseur? Its funny on many levels, you probably just don't understand it. Firstly, it's funny because of the confusion of what kind of tank they're in. Most people would naturally assume that fish are in a fish tank. When you hit that twist in the plot and it turns out they're actually in an ARMY TANK, not a FISH TANK its a laugh riot. Secondly, its funny because once you realise they're in an army tank you need to think to yourself, 'hang on, why are these fish in an army tank' - its really a preposterous image! I mean, its not like they have arms to drive the tank; and even if they did how would they breath in the army tank without water? And we haven't even discussed how the fish were talking in the first place. Can you imagine it, talking fish!
Why did the fish not know how to drive the tank?[edit | edit source]
That's a good point actually. The fish doing the talking sounds like he doesn't belong in the tank at all. If he doesn't know how to drive it and he doesn't know enough about the other fish to know if that fish can drive the tank then it does make me wonder just what he's doing there in the first place. Does he have clearance for being in that tank? What's going on here? Surely the army doesn't just let civilian fish into their underwater army tanks? I think that that could lead to all sorts of accidents. In fact, its an outrage that security is not tighter around these underwater fighting machines. I'm going to write a letter to the army right now to sort it out.
[edit | edit source]
To be honest I'm not really up on who does what in the armed forces - I'll include that question in my letter.
So, did the second fish know how to drive the tank or not?[edit | edit source]
You know, I'm not really sure. I guess when you think of it like that I've never heard the second fish's response and thus the end of the joke. I'll Google it and get back to you.
