It was ridiculous as to how extensively this album was advertised. Billboards, screening their music videos in theaters before showing Captain America: Civil War, bus advertisements. scarves, beanies, journals, antiviral advertisement, show posters in Amsterdam, postcards with the lyrics to their songs, hosting a worldwide event in which record stores around the world streamed their album to coincide with the release of a limited edition white-vinyl version of their album (stood in line for that at Amoeba and it was totally worth it), and as you just mentioned, trams... not even Drake advertised his new album (which came at around the same time as the one being discussed at the moment) as heavily as this.
