I tried Linux once. I almost screwed up my computer. Might as well stick with chrony crapitalist Microdud. At least a simpleton like me can operate it.--Colonel Sanders 20:12, 2 Octodest 2011 (UTC)

Ahhh, you were born a good ol' simpleton. Monkey-butler.jpg Sincerely, islandmonkey - go speak 20:24, 2 Octodest 2011 (UTC)
Linux isn't very good either. ~ Pointy.png 20:57, 2 Octodest 2011

Your personal experiences notwithstanding, Linux is great. It just isn't the right choice for most people. If you're a gamer, Windows is a great choice. If you'd like to run something without really knowing how it works, Windows is a great choice (e.g. if your main solution to operating system problems is to re-install the operating system). If you're pretty set in your ways and don't want to have to learn anything new, Windows is a great choice.

Personally, I can do without games (that's what my PS3 is for), viruses, Digital Rights Management, Genuine Advantage®, Patch Tuesdays, zero day attacks, overpriced software / relying on piracy for applications I can't afford, and my CPU grinding to a halt because of all of the background processes. I've used Linux to do all my coursework for my Masters degree; for paid, published writing for university research; and for all of my personal excursions (like these wikis).

But really, use whatever you want to use. About 10 years ago, Windows pissed me off for the last time. I haven't looked back. Maybe you'll remain happy with Windows. Maybe not. But it's worth your while to install Linux on a spare computer. Better yet, install a new kind every month and just play with it. If you give it an honest try, you'll have something to switch to someday. Linux Mint is a nice, friendly Linux that comes with all the software and codecs built in. It's worth trying first. ~ The Bard of Illogicopedia TinyQuill.gif 23:55, 2 Octodest 2011 (UTC)

Maybe I will. I have a spare computer or two lying around, and make that three next week. I don't do computer gaming.... I have a Wii, Xbox 360, and a boatload of retro Nintendo, Sega, and Atari crap. I'll try it again sometime. But when it comes to computer proficiency, I really am a simpleton.--Colonel Sanders 00:04, 3 Octodest 2011 (UTC)

I ain't doing more links. Especially when "Tru-View has categorised this as software download." Stupid school internet. Monkey-butler.jpg Sincerely, islandmonkey - go speak 12:28, 4 Octodest 2011 (UTC)
I installed puppy linux today. If I like it, I may stick with it. - Another n00b 11:58, 16 Octodest 2011 (UTC)
Thats the distro i suggested RMS try, it's pretty cool what puppy linux can do with minimal effort/installing. He uses Mint now for some reason, the strange lego hairstyled boy. I used to use arch until I switched to Mac OS X. Relying on FOSS to write decent software that used the OS resources got very tiring, OS X's unixness makes me feel like slightly less of a sellout. --Silent Penguin 15:32, 16 Octodest 2011 (UTC)
With Mint (Ubuntu version) I had the computer experience from hell. X for no reason killed itself. Now using Ubuntu 11.10 if you like it or not. But don't worry, I'm considering LMDE. Monkey-butler.jpg Sincerely, islandmonkey - go speak 18:12, 16 Octodest 2011 (UTC)
