About the lopsided main page

Look, I get it. We are Illogicopedia and things are often weird here and whatnot, but seriously, does anyone know how to fix the formatting on the main page? Yeah, it looks illogical, but it also makes the site look horribly broken, which...yeah, it basically is, but still. —Marzipan (talk) 11:58, 13 Octodest 2017 (UTC)

• Yeah, it's done that way intentionally. Mindless Sandalism was kinda broken. I fixed that. But the split in the featured article/did-u-no section is intentionally set to 70/30 instead of 50/50. Apparently somebody thought it looked better that way. Far be it from me to gainsay them. (It would be the work of a few minutes to change it -- 10 seconds to make the change and then several minutes to wait for the main page to reload to see if it's right why is the server so godawful slow I'd like to know? • And it looks like there's an image in the Illogiblog which is too wide, and which is forcing its table to be too wide, which contributes to the loppiness. Somebody with power to edit the Illogiblog should probably nuke it -- it's just an old (very old at this point) joke image about vandalism. But that's not the only issue there -- even before that was a problem the boxes didn't line up properly. Oh, thank goodness, you fixed it. I know I complained about it a lot, but yeah, it looked awful for so long. It made the site look broken (which, again, it kind of is) but at least you got the main page - the page that gets the most traffic - looking decent again. —Marzipan (talk) 08:48, 28 Arply 2018 (UTC)

If we really want the main page to stop chasing people away, there's another delicate issue which should probably be addressed. We should get that picture of Donald Trump off of there.

The problem is, first, it looks like a serious endorsement (you have to read the thing to find out there's something illogical about it) and second, it's demographics.

According to study results, most of the people DT's picture attracts are old white guys who drive giant pickup trucks and live in Arkansas. And unfortunately that demographic doesn't spend a lot of time cruising around humor wikis. If we suppose, optimistically, that there might be six people in the country who are potential New Users of Illogicopedia, then demographically, five of them will see DT glaring at them and they'll click 'back', go over to Anarchopedia, and that's the last we'll see of them. (And number six is only allowed out of his rubber room on Tuesdays, and then it's under supervision, so he's not going to be doing a lot for us, either.)

If we want a conservative endorsement there, it should be someone who's appealing to people who might come here, and it shouldn't be so apparently serious. So, I'd love to see us endorse Vladimir Putin -- he's smart, he's effective, he's popular in his own country, and he looks great riding on a bear.

If it has to be someone from Trump's entourage, maybe we could endorse Kelly Anne Conway. She's at least got better hair than DT. Snarglefoop (talk) 14:58, 28 Arply 2018 (UTC)
