Ello ello[edit source]
So anyway, this is a pseudo-official greeting from a user who may or may not be an admin/sysop/werewolf, so here come the obligatory links to pages to help you out and tell you "Don't be teh vandal kthx":
The rules, such as "ROFL KILL THE BABIESN'T PLZN'T (notn't)" are here. People breaking the rules will have a koala thrown at them, and may also possibly receive a Chinese burn. So, that's all for now... Please be nice, make great articles and help contribute to our community in any way possible: e.g. template making, voting for articles or users, et cetera.

I found the ED article about Illogicopedia and decided to check it out. After reading your About page, I felt that this wiki was something that I wanted to be a part of. I find ED to be too vindictive, and I feel that Uncyclopedia is too ridged when it comes to what content they accept. But Illogicopedia seems to have the right attitude about the situation.
Also, please remember that I’m fairly new to wikis (I have a Wikipedia account where I have done minor work) so I really am just kind of learning as I go, so if I do something wrong, feel free to tell me. Mars Cadbury 07:58, 5 Arche 2011 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you, but I have a stupid question[edit source]
How do you code something so that when a user reads it, it displays their username? I want to do this and can't remember how.
- You do it by writing ~ 4 times. Or you could just hit the button over the post box that looks like a signature. When you hover the mouse over the button, it should say "Your signature with timestamp." --marbury (talk) 09:13, 27 Aym 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not talking about signatures, I know how to do that. What I'm asking is, how do I code something so that, for example, if I read it while logged in it would read ""P00psicle", but if you read it while logged in it would read "Mars Cadbury". Since you were here recently[edit source]
I thought I'd ask you something if you have time.
What would you do if a relatively constructive user who has been inactive for several months creates a new account with a totally different name (but obviously belongs to the same user because of similar behaviour) and then proceeds to make three articles with no content but a link to the Wikipedia article? Do you think deleting the articles and indefinitely blocking the account is overkill? I've done the first thing but not the second. The user in question is Cathérine/Phyllis Hyman, known here as Kate and 80.122.240.90.
Thanks for reading. You don't have to answer but I am feeling a bit confused at the moment and would like some help. ❦ Flyingcat (meow?) 15:03, 15 Octodest 2013 (UTC)
- We actually have a system for banning users but since our user base is so low and most offenders are spambots it doesn't really get used much anymore. And if the articles are low content then they should be tagged with a stub or work in progress anyway regardless of if they were created by an IP or an account.
- As of right now I am just going to let it ride. If it proves to be a problem I will probably at least temp ban them. --Mars Cadbury (talk) 21:37, 15 Octodest 2013 (UTC)
Spam[edit source]
Thanks to you, Lyrithya/Athyria and Legoktm for your efforts in spam cleanup. I think some of these pages will have to be semiprotected; they keep being recreated, and not necessarily by the same IPs but by the same ranges, it seems. The ones at it today were 112.111.165.212, 36.250.181.146, 175.42.81.94, 114.80.136.112, and 112.111.174.54. If you or another admin could block these it would be much appreciated. ❦ Flyingcat (meow?) 19:23, 16 Octodest 2013 (UTC)
Features[edit source]
Do you by any chance know how to feature things? The voting may be mostly dead (unless it isn't, I didn't look that closely), but there're at least one or two things that might be featureable anyway just to mix things up. I tried to look into it but got confused upon the list of features from 2012 that didn't have any listed feature day. Were they actually featured? It's probably in a history somewhere, at least, so if they weren't they we should probably feature those, too.
Except featuring is complicated so I ran away. This is me, running away. *runs away yodelling* -— Athyria 23:20, 31 Octodest 2013 (UTC)
- I'd like to know too. I'd like to nominate some things actually and get voting going again if possible.
- Also, not really relevant but would one of you delete this, please? ❦ Flyingcat (meow?) 03:31, 1 Novelniver 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, I think I figured it out. On the nominated article, there should be a {{VFF}} tag. To feature the article, you need to changed that tag to "Feature" followed by the last 2 digits of the year. For example, an article featured during 2013 should have a tag reading {{Feature13}} I hope that helps. And yeah, I'll delete the page. --Mars Cadbury (talk) 06:14, 1 Novelniver 2013 (UTC)
- Mmm, but what about the undated? I bet the hedgehog Dan knows something, but I don't know how to find him. Buggery. -— Athyria 20:46, 2 Novelniver 2013 (UTC)
- I used the past frenzies to try and date those featured in 2013, as seen right here. Not sure if they are all 100% accurate, but probably pretty close at least. --Mars Cadbury (talk) 07:14, 6 Novelniver 2013 (UTC)

Kate[edit source]
Ok, so she adds Andre Breton quotes, welcomes new users, adds categories and does a lot of generally ok edits. Fine. But there are a couple of little issues.
First, she absolutely loves adding quotes. That's fine. Sometimes I don't think her quotes are really that great, though, and I remove them. Does she accept that the quote might not fit well? No, she just reverts me. Does she give a reason why the quote should stay? Also no. And if I've made some other edits to the page, she reverts those too.
She also loves adding templates (and on at least one wiki [1] she added two or three templates to so many pages, and edit warred over them so much, that she got indef blocked). That's also fine, but I think she goes a bit overboard. Earlier today I ran across something on Template talk:Kamelopedia saying that maybe there shouldn't be so many transclusions of the template because it was spammy and stuff. I'd noticed a lot of them, many added by Kate, but hadn't realised it might be a problem until I saw the talk page, and I thought, sure, that makes sense. So I started removing the transclusions and replacing them with interwiki links, if I thought the page was relevant, and just removing them otherwise. I figured Kate wouldn't be too upset over this since most of the articles would still link to the German ones, but she was. I left her a message on her talk page saying why I disagreed (here; may seem a bit harshly worded out of context but I've kind of lost patience with her after trying to explain what feels like a zillion different things and being basically ignored each time), and she said nothing to me but kept reverting my edits.
Finally, her formatting skills aren't really the best; she adds lots and lots of whitespace almost every time she edits, always puts two newlines between her talk page comments and her sig, and often doesn't indent properly. This may be a small quibble, but this, too, she has edit warred over; I've removed whitespace from many, many articles she's edited and occasionally found my edits reverted even when that was all I had done.
There's also various stuff that leads me to conclude that she's out to annoy me and drive me away (e.g. telling me to go fuck myself, creating a junk page on a wiki where I am an admin), but most of that didn't happen here so I won't go into it.
Some example diffs (there are tons of these, this is just a quick sample):
- Several reverts to the Category:School, just today: [2] [3] [4] I had removed whitespace and the kamelopedia template, and her response was to tell me to take a wikibreak (first and second revert) and to give the Welsh name for school (ysgol), a common habit of hers and apparently a (trolling?) response to/comment on the fact that I speak Welsh (third revert).
- implying my reverts are vandalism, in these diffs by calling it 'chicken' (in various languages): [5] [6] [7] [8]
As I've said there's way more evidence; if you would like to see everything I can dig it all or mostly up.
As of now she has just got through reverting my latest removals of template spam. Would you, please, decide if this really is template spam, and if so...maybe stop her from editing a little while? I don't know if that's the right thing to do, but I don't think she is benefitting the wiki by putting rather irrelevant and unnecessary templates around and acting obnoxious to me when I revert her edits.
Sorry for taking your time. ❦ Flyingcat (meow?) 20:10, 24 Novelniver 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, a few points I want to address here. Also, before I get into this I want to make it clear that I am speaking only for myself. The other admins might disagree with me on some of these things.
- The Kamelopedia Template: Yes, I agree that the Kamelopedia template is getting overused and this is partially the fault of the community for not setting up better guideline for when and how such templates should be used. The reasons almost all Uncyclopedia article link to Wikipedia is because Uncyclopedia is a parody of Wikipedia, so it would make sense to link back to the source material that the article is parody. However such things get a little murky when it comes to Illogicopedia.
- Personally, I am not opposed to using the Kamelopedia tag but I would prefer to only use it when the article has something to do with German culture. I might suggest to Athyria or Gruntled that the admins get together and decide on some better guidelines.
- Quotes: This is another rather tricky issue. There is nothing wrong with added quotes, but spamming the same joke over and over isn’t very helpful. The only reason Andre Breton gets used so much is to poke fun at Uncyclopedia’s obsession with Oscar Wilde, and even I am not too keen on that to be honest.
- I’m not sure how to handle this. If you are the original creator of the article I guess you could argue that you should have the final say in what goes into the article.
- Whitespace: I admit I don’t know much about this, but from what I can tell there is no benefit to having whitespace, so it should be removed. I think Kate said that it is a side-effect of her editing with her phone, which is all fine and good, but the whitespace should then be removed by another editor or herself when she is able to do so.
- Conduct: I can’t control what Kate (or anyone else, for that matter) does on other websites but bullying and intimidation will not be tolerated here. I don’t care if it coming from her or you or anyone. A little ribbing here and there is fine, expected even. But if it is actually mean-spirited and hurtful then it needs to be reported to an admin.
- Finally, I want to make it clear that I am not taking a side in this. I like having both you and Kate here. I am simply trying to throw out some ideas in the hope to react a compromise that both parties can live with.
- And you don't need to apologize for taking up my time. I am always happy to talk to other editors, especially if they are concerned about something. --Mars Cadbury (talk) 18:51, 25 Novelniver 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply.
- The strange thing about {{Kamelopedia}} is that we also have an interwiki prefix de: that goes to that wiki, and it seems more normal to simply make an interwiki link there rather than placing a template. I wonder if the template should even be entirely replaced with interwikis to the German articles; I think it dates from a time when we did not have the interwiki prefix, as the link in it was external until I changed it to an interwiki. I find it amusing, though, and would like to see it stay on at least the Germany-related articles. I agree we should have guidelines on this, and possibly on quotes - the problem I see is that some of us may disagree with them, and then what do we do. Is excessive addition of templates a blockable offence here? Should it be?
- I am not the original creator of any of these articles. If the original creator has a say I am happy to hear it, but that say is not mine.
- The conduct thing is on a whole pile of wikis and has been pretty off and on on any of them individually. Here there hasn't been too much, but if you go to Special:Undelete/User talk:Ffdfwmpnk (there are specific diffs but I forget how you link to those in a deleted history) you will see an edit summary where she called me an idiot. She wanted to welcome the spambot and I was trying to tag the page with {{QD}}, and apparently those aims conflicted.
- Anyway, on a less serious topic, I see you're on IRC.

Double On-tendres[edit source]
I kind of thought having the word "on" doubled in the quote template for the article Quotes of wisdom was cute, and more importantly, illogical. Irregardless, I support your edit, and added a quote of my own. Congratulations on your acquisition of the Ronco belch enhancer. 19:50, 9 Arply 2014 (UTC)
- Change it back if you want to. Actually lots of articles have double on quotes. I’m guessing it is some sort of side-effect from some change in the formatting. Oh well. - Oh, yeah, you did fine. I was going to say something to him myself if he kept making non-illogical articles.
- On what to do, I am going to be adding stub tags to all the blanked articles and if they don’t improve in any way, I will eventually delete them. Also, I created a “too logical” template for articles lacking any sort of random or surreal humor.
- I don’t want to ban him. Making logical articles doesn’t really seem like grounds for a ban, but at the same time the articles need to be more illogical for them to remain here. I don’t know. --Mars Cadbury (talk) 06:57, 9 Aym 2014 (UTC)

Must .. Kill .. Self - Nominated for Deletion[edit source]
I just don't see the point of this article. Is it okay if I redirect it to "I Feel Suicidal"? Or we could just completely scrap it. A search through it's Past Frenzies will show eight edits by two users, Testostereich (7 edits) and Kate (1 edit), this article hasn't been modified in over a year, so, go figure. --Argo (talk) 11:35, 10 Serpeniver 2014 (UTC)
- No. Articles rarely get deleted at ?pedia, except under very specific circumstances, such as a policy violation. Despite featuring very little content and not much editing activity, there is really no reason to delete Must .. Kill .. Self. However, if you feel that the article is too short or pointless, feel free to add content to it. We are always happy to see a shorter article get developed and expanded into something great. @Marzipan (talk) 06:27, 11 Serpeniver 2014 (UTC)

Okay, I looked over them and here are my notes.
- Add pictures: I know you asked me to judge your writing skills, but honestly images are just as important as the words. A hilarious wall of text is still just a wall of text. Pictures help make articles more interesting and help punctuate the text.
- No one-liners: Much like the wall of text problem, a hilarious one-liner is still just a one-liner. One-liners are certainly not forbidden, but they are discouraged, unless you are adding an article to the IllogiDictionary. In fact, that is probably the best place for one-liners.

Relax and have some hot cocoa, because for once this isn't a page deletion request[edit source]
I was just wondering what you'd think of recent editing by an influx of new users on pages such as this (both sides). I mean, aren't featured articles (particularly ones which are that old) meant to be kinda left as they are since that's what people voted for? I suppose it's just an etiquette thing, but I don't really know if it's worth approaching at all or if it's just too trivial, sigh... ~ Good tidings! ~ 09:04, 4 Aym 2015 (UTC)
- I believe the rules say you're not supposed to make significant edits on featured articles. Do you define that as significant? Should these edits be reverted? XY007 ⊡ talk ⊡ contributions 10:08, 4 Aym 2015 (UTC)
- I'm actually really divided on this. On one hand, yes, featured articles are supposed to be the "best" Illogicopedia has, but on the other hand I don't like the idea of articles being off-limits for new edits. I guess Awesomedecks is right, it is mostly just an etiquette issue and as long as the changes aren't destructive, it is okay. —Marzipan (talk) 11:53, 6 Aym 2015 (UTC)

Re:Deleting stuff[edit source]
Yes, it surely is a lot of stuff, but, unfortunately, there is a lot more. I have to delete each article one by one because these articles were not made recently, thus depriving me of the option to use the Mass delete function on Danny's articles, which, unfortunately, span the course of three extremely hyperactive accounts.
Marzipan, if you have the time, could you work your way through IllogiGames:Think outside the box and delete whatever's left of it? When I was able to use the mass delete function on Danny's most recent contributions, a chunk of the pages associated with the game got deleted, thereby making it less playable. I must warn that Danny made a slew of pages for that game, so it may take a while. But you don't really need to worry about that part too much since I'll also be deleting pages along the way.
We were too lenient with this user. 20:19, 8 Ditzimber 2017 (UTC)

About the Recent Spam Pages[edit source]
maybe we could somehow prevent page creation by IPs, and infiniban anyone who makes a spam page like the last 25. (some IP from London made a new page, 5 minutes later I tagged it with a QD) how are we going to handle this? ✩80gallonsofgas✩river talk✩contribs✩ 11:52, 23 Octodest 2019 (UTC)

- never mind, six pages just got re-created. and i was thinking about this last night, but maybe i could temporarily become an admin so i could delete the pages. Hey, sorry for taking so long to respond. First off, about the idea of creating temp admins. Only bureaucrats can grand someone an admin position, temp or otherwise. I can only give people rollback power, which wouldn't be very useful. As far as somehow blocking or filtering out the articles, I am all for it, I just don't know how to go about doing it. I asked one of the more tech-savvy admins to maybe suggest something or perhaps come up with some kind of filter to curb this because (and I say this from experience) will most likely not stop on its own. —Marzipan (talk) 00:13, 25 Octodest 2019 (UTC)
- (Sorry about the delayed response, I saw this last night but I couldn't reply then because school n stuff) Maybe there could be a limit to how many articles anonymous users can make in a certain time period. The "bureaucrats can give admin rights" thing makes sense, but the only vampires are Silent Penguin, Hindleyite, and Nerd42. Right now, there's really no reason to become an admin other than creation-protect the pages. Either way, even if I could be a temp admin, there's not really a bureaucrat that could do that, unless SP comes back. (Before I forget - I'm still 80Gallons, but an alt. account, and my question is "What are the requirements for adminship?")

- I'd go with blocking all article creation by IPs, rather than limiting them, since the current wave has a lot of IPs, so a nonzero limit wouldn't be very effective. CG098 (talk ₪ contribs) 13:52, 25 Octodest 2019 (UTC)
- That's an infinitely better idea compared to having a certain limit. I don't know how that would be set up, though.
