Having to look after a youngun for a few minutes, I found a fine piece of children's literature from her collection to read her. It was about a girl who suddenly lost the ability to laugh and as a result became somewhat depressed. Wonderful. At least she got her laughter in the mail... eventually...
Kids' books are strange sometimes. My friend always found the part of a different book that said "he went to bed in the bath" hilarious for some reason.
