Psychotic clowns were discovered by H. L. Mencken of Baltimore in 1911, while on a fact-finding mission for the United States Treasury Department in Monaco. Quite unwillingly one day he was virtually kidnapped on a public thoroughfare by the local constabulary and hustled off to the 14th most expensive bistro in the Principality.

It began with alligators on a train. At the time, armed black men did not habitually occupy planes (since they did not exist en masse in the 19-teens) or railway cars. Thus it happened that, on a crisp October morning at the only Monaco-Iceland border crossing, alligators were somehow released into passenger areas on the 8:18 bound for Dallas via Tierra Del Fuego. The simple fact that there were nary a cursing African-American armed man assaulting "motha'fuggin alligators on this mutha'fuggin train!" doomed 119 passengers and crew to gory, tooth-based, noisy deaths, followed by digestion.
