What do you thing of the logo?--Silent Penguin 11:52, 9 January 2007 (EST)
- Well, it does its job for now. Perhaps we could have a logo competition once the wiki gets enough contributors. Until then, it is an able logo. -- Hindleyak Converse • ?blog • Click here! 11:54, 9 January 2007 (EST)
its quite hard to think of anything good, i didnt want to do anything too inapropriate or random, because that woul be confusing--Silent PenguinLeave Me Alone 11:57, 9 January 2007 (EST)

Such wonderful confusion[edit source]
Adding that Locigal category prompted me to escalate the madness even further: (now, I hope no one will add all of them to all of them, as that would make it less confusing. if you can, feel free to make it worse, though)

Outraged[edit source]
I'm outraged Hindleyite. It's been three minutes and still no response from Illogicopedia about my free holiday. And from a thoruogh analysis of the holiday home it needs the roof fixing, the toilet cleaning and the floor needs a right old scrubbing. I was expecting more from a cardboad box house. -- Flippin' Fool 14:38, 1 February 2007 (EST)
- Better than a kick in the teeth, or even a weekend in Prestatyn. -- Hindleyak Converse • ?blog • Click here! 14:40, 1 February 2007 (EST)
- Yes I agree, I've always preferred the cardboard foundations compared to a weekend holiday at Prestatyn in a newspaper. Never been good at the camping cooking thing, whenever I try and stick my can of beans on the homemade cooker (Made from three identical twigs, an elastic band and a Santa Claus candle) it falls over, the beans spill and it makes a right mess of the newly laid Hello! Magazine rug. You'd have thought that they'd have invented fire proof paper by now, too. I did that in the last residence I lived in as well. Didn't help that I soaked the place with diesel; it was an attempt to scare off any of those bloody cardboard box wearing thieves. They're always looking for something to put their valuables in.

The new (3rd) logo[edit source]
The new image is nice, but when viewed as the site logo, a bit of the bottom (part of the "In illogic we trust") is clipped by the top of the sidebar. Atleast this goes for Firefox; in IE, the whole image is visible. Moving the sidebar down a bit (if possible) or downsizing the image a little bit should fix it. --Fluffalizer 08:41, 10 February 2007 (EST)

Category template[edit source]
Why dont you make/find a bot that will add the category stuff for you, rather than bothering with doing it yourself?--Silent Penguin 16:42, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- There are bots that do that stuff? -- Hindleyite 16:43, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, at least i think so. I dont really go into that stuff, there are bots which interlink and stuff like that too.--Silent Penguin 16:49, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- Heh, I wouldn't know how to code a bot. Besides it might be more reliable to have users add the cats. -- Hindleyite 17:37, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- Unless it was radically different from the coding I've done before, I think I could make one. Though I'd need something to start me off, never having done any bot programming or anything meant to interface with wikis before. As for the reliability, you couldn't reliably replace all the work with bots. You could lessen it, though, having them deal with the obvious. For example, putting articles with "cheese" or "cheesy" in their title in Category:Cheese, and making sure all categories have the catBrowser. --The Divine Fluffalizer 17:42, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- The catbrowser thing would be quite useful, but I doubt there would be a large enough volume of cheese articles to warrant a 'Cheesebot'. Might be funny though. -- Hindleyite 17:44, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- Cheese was an example; you could make one that would put articles into categories with names containing words from the article title. --The Divine Fluffalizer 17:48, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- Heh, I understood what you meant. Might be useful if you could make it have multiple commonly created article names, maybe 'Jesus', 'cheese' and the one letter category or something, that auto categorise certain things. Would you be able to look into it? -- Hindleyite 17:51, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'll do. --The Divine Fluffalizer 19:23, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- Excellent, dude. I read somewhere earlier that there are a variety of programs you can code bots with. -- Hindleyite 19:34, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- A text-editor would be it, if you are to be able to define exactly what you want. Languages may differ, though. I'm familiar with C/C++, Java and PHP. Python seems very popular for bot-coding, and it'd take a few days to get a relatively good hang of. There are frameworks for bot-coding, so I wouldn't need to implement the basic functionality (luckily, as I have no experience with such software) if I find something suitable to base it off. The question is where to run a bot, though, if successfully made... --The Divine Fluffalizer 19:56, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe, after a bot has been made and tested locally, it could be made to run from the mirror site, where SP has control of what goes...? --The Divine Fluffalizer 20:50, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- What might be better is to make a bot that Exports every page that has been edited on this wiki and imports it into the other wiki and another to copy and upload images every newly uploaded image, is that possible?--Silent Penguin 20:56, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- Technically, but it'd quite an ugly solution for synchronizing the wikis. Wikia provides database downloads, so it'd be simple to update by hand, or semi-automate so that something, when ran, could download and apply it. --The Divine Fluffalizer 21:26, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- It's been a while now, so I thought it might be good to say how this matter is going. I think I could make a bot based upon the pywikipediabot framework, but it will have to wait until sometime during summer with all that I have to do around now. --Fluffalizer 00:52, 7 Aym 2007 (UTC)

You may find it easier to rename the file if possible: it's rather a profane song name.
p.s. is there any way to include the audio file actually on the page? It'd make it so much better for the reader :P
- It seems I can't upload it to the podcast for you but if you sign in with the Username "Illogicopedia" and password "francisedec" you can choose to upload to the ?pedia public channel.
- And yeah, you can kind of add the audio to the page in the form of a link: we have an audio template {{Illogicast|link=http://blah.name of file.ogg}}, for example:

Welcoming new users[edit source]
generally as i patrol the site i try and welcome nnew users quickest. i see your point on pestpokku's talk page about new user welcoming quickness. I should of mentioned i check everything on recent changes, usually first. I need a life.
- Heh, I was joking. It's a good thing that we have people who write personalised welcome messages rather than the templated ones. I just thought it funny that Pespokku had three welcomes :D -- Hindleyak Converse • ?blog • Click here! 20:34, 20 Yoon 2007 (UTC)
I know its good but it proves i have too much spare time. Still in a week or so i'll be away from the site for the bit then in the proper summer hols i'll be away for about a month.
- I was thinking how maybe we should have a standard welcome of information which is build into the personalised welcome, so like a thing with links to important pages but no other text, ie. bullet points, so that users can write their own messege but still have the facts in it, and theny anyone after just punches in a welcome messege without the added template.--Silent PenguinLeave Me Alone 20:49, 20 Yoon 2007 (UTC)

Babelfish[edit source]
Hello Hindleyite. Thanks for your support. I hope everything will work out, getting articles & contributers & stuff. (I'm blackmailing some users at oncyclopedia to come & write here too.
Babelfish sucks for translating articles, especially longer ones. Correctring the pidgin is more work than translating the whole text & sometimes the translations are ambiguous or unintelligable (Is that an english word?) But for getting the general meaning if you don't speak the language it's ok i guess. For short articles, words and a few sentences it can be useful, but they always need editing. For sayings & expressions it is useless. About translating articles from illo to irra: I haven't looked at them yet, but i think a lot of them are totally untranslatable :p . But when i see a nice one I'll snatch it. D. G. Narrator - Let it all out. 17:02, 24 Yoon 2007 (UTC)
- But for illogicalness Babelfish sometimes is very sharp & hilarious, as long as you edit it to take away the babelfishy smell.
