Forum:Sense out of Nonsense
And now, it's time for the game where people try to make sense out of nonsense. For example, who would expect that the article Dfgds had actual meaning, if it were not for the spoiler?
Here's how it works:
- First, I post something seemingly nonsensical, that there is in fact a meaning to.
- Then people try to figure out what's sensible about it.
- Wild guesses are completely okay.
- You have an infinite number of guesses.
So, here's the first segment of nonsense[edit source]
ccggaag ffeeddc ggffeed ggffeed ccggaag ffeeddc
Post guesses here[edit source]
Every word represents a day. The c's stand for "cow," the g's stand for "gerbil," the a's stand for "assaulted by an obese, nude man," the f's stand for "fell in fridge," the e's stand for "Elvis," and the d's stand for "dead." The sequence of the letters in each word tells about what happened to you on that day. For instance, the last word, "ffeeddc," indicates that you fell into your fridge twice, then listened to two elvis songs, then thought twice about how elvis is dead, then saw a cow. --THE 21:00, 17 Arche 2008 (UTC)
- No, that isn't correct. You're welcome to keep guessing, though. Some WHAT!? (talk) (contribs) (edit count) 21:09, 17 Arche 2008 (UTC)
It's music. I don't know what music though. --~~~~ 22:13, 17 Arche 2008 (UTC)
- Very good, very good. Now anyone going to guess what music? Some WHAT!? (talk) (contribs) (edit count) 22:28, 17 Arche 2008 (UTC)

Uh, that would be numbers. Not sure why this is supposed to be hard.-Ljlego 22:58, 17 Arche 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, but numbers representing what? Some WHAT!? (talk) (contribs) (edit count) 23:02, 17 Arche 2008 (UTC)

Sorry this thing got listed as an old conversation[edit source]
I was planning to give a hint before that happened... Anyway, here's a hint: The numbers represent something geographical. Some WHAT!? (talk) (contribs) (edit count) 13:23, 30 Arche 2008 (UTC)
Post guesses here, after 1 hint[edit source]
Well, to me its clear they are longitude and latitude, but for where, i can't be arsed to figure out :P --Silent PenguinLeave Me Alone 16:15, 30 Arche 2008 (UTC)
- Good, it's latitude and longitude. Anybody know where that longitude and latitude is? Some WHAT!? (talk) (contribs) (edit count) 19:04, 31 Arche 2008 (UTC)
- Just a wild guess here . . . is it that place where you're sitting?-Ljlego 21:48, 1 Arply 2008 (UTC)
- I need a specific location such as a city, and no, it isn't. Some WHAT!? (talk) (contribs) (edit count) 01:01, 2 Arply 2008 (UTC)
- Just a wild guess here . . . is it that place where you're sitting?-Ljlego 21:48, 1 Arply 2008 (UTC)
- I only glanced at the clues so don't take my guess as gospel: Is it the number of ladies you've pulled, subtracted against the number of them who turned out to be men? --
- It's a latitude and longitude; that's been worked out already by Silent Penguin. Some WHAT!? (talk) (contribs) (edit count) 01:01, 2 Arply 2008 (UTC)

- None are correct. One at a time, please. Some WHAT!? (talk) (contribs) (edit count) 19:05, 3 Arply 2008 (UTC)
- Please don't say a ton of random places. There is a much better chance of getting the answer if you do some work to figure it out. Some WHAT!? (talk) (contribs) (edit count) 19:05, 3 Arply 2008 (UTC)

You don't have to use your knowledge of geography to solve this. Some WHAT!? (talk) (contribs) (edit count) 19:45, 7 Arply 2008 (UTC)
Looks like there is serious need for another hint.[edit source]
You can use the internet to do this, instead of your knowledge of geography. Here's the second hint:
Split the clue in half. Each half will have three numbers, and then another number in bold. The first number is degrees, the second number is minutes, the third number is seconds, and the number in bold stands for the letter N, S, E, or W.
Post guesses here, after 2 hints[edit source]
53' 23 minutes 09 seconds 14NW 01' 28minutes 10 seconds 23 SE
To be honest hombre, I haven't a clue. Is it the time and location of some event etc.
- Um, geographical minutes and seconds. There are plenty of places on the web for finding a place based on its latitude and longitude. Some WHAT!? (talk) (contribs) (edit count) 19:20, 6 Aym 2008 (UTC)
Here we go, after a long, long, LONG, long time[edit source]
And the answer is...
The latitude and longitude of Sheffield, England.
