Forum:Cordially inviting the administrators to lock themselves in a small room and adress the terribly pressing concern in which several of the users want a new admin to join the ranks

...yeah. That. I'll, er, wire y'all some beer if you show up.

See, apparently it's been a bit of an issue of late that... um... crap, I wandered off to get some breakfast and now I don't remember where I was going with this.

...maybe someone else will care enough to chime in and sort it out. *shifty eyes* ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101017 - 17:29 (UTC)

Meh, we tried getting them to bring up an admin once, and they did; it was for the sake of getting one in America. But he's now inactive.
Still why would we need an admin, anyways? —rms talk 17:53, 17 Octodest 2010 (UTC)
I think it was something about increasing the odds stopping vandals that need stopping on the same day as opposed to just the same week, and perhaps some vain hope of having someone around capable of and not too lazy to delete stuff, update stuff, and do other stuff I'm too lazy to even think of.
But I don't remember for sure. ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101017 - 18:06 (UTC)
Actually, yeah; that would be a problem. Would any of you guys not go absent, anyhow, if you were opped? I can only think of two, maybe three experienced users I've even seen around somewhat consistently... ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101017 - 18:08 (UTC)
I don't edit much nowadays, but I check the wiki every day. Pathetic.
Also, we should find and shoot Duncan. —rms talk 18:18, 17 Octodest 2010 (UTC)
Oh, did you add that one to the list? That's reassuring, at any rate.
Who is Duncan? ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101017 - 18:24 (UTC)

Oh... right. Wouldn't it work better to take him alive? ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101017 - 19:02 (UTC)
I don't think he's a crat... we'd be best off shotting him. His only real use is making great entries for this contest.rms talk 19:18, 17 Octodest 2010 (UTC)
And he won't agree to this, then? Well, alright. Let's find the bastard! *loads crossbow* ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101017 - 19:28 (UTC)

Obviously the new admin would have to be a longtime user and someone who checks the site everyday. Also, living in America is a plus... Damn. I guess that leaves me and RMS. --T3 19:24, 17 Octodest 2010 (UTC)

This'll be interesting. ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101017 - 19:28 (UTC)
Wait, what? Interesting?
You're calling a backwater wiki site's pointless admin "drama" interesting? —rms talk 21:08, 17 Octodest 2010 (UTC)
And? ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101017 - 21:34 (UTC)
He's got a point, Athyria. And why did you have to write such an annoyingly long forum title?--Sig.png (Talk) (Contributions) 21:35, 17 Octodest 2010 (UTC)
Maybe I'm easily amused. You wanna make something of it? And yes. Yes, I most certainly did. ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101017 - 22:04 (UTC) Oh, I read that wrong. Again. Because? Pointy.png
Honestly in order to keep up appearances, I'll say that I really don't care but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to be considered for adminship. Obviously I want adminship; it would take a nutjob not to want it. That being said, I will not publicly cry if I don't get it. --T3 01:19, 18 Octodest 2010 (UTC)
With that in mind, Seppy: If you don't make me an admin, shit is going to go down on skype. Yee haw, howdy do! —rms talk 01:23, 18 Octodest 2010 (UTC)
I think I know whom I might be rooting for in this... *shifty eyes* ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101018 - 01:46 (UTC)

FYI I'm an American, but not particularly active, but still. --Nerd42 01:16, 20 Octodest 2010 (UTC)

/me crosses Athyria off the list of possible admins --Silent Penguin 03:44, 25 Octodest 2010 (UTC)
Of course I'd make a rubbish admin, love... I still haven't the faintest inkling how this place works; it's all so new to me. But that's not the point... no, I have an idea. It's a really bad idea, see... why not op two people? Tell them whoever's less productive will be de-opped. Then... just leave them like that indefinitely. It could work, except for the fact that I mentioned it in plain view of anyone who highlights this...
But nobody saw me say it. ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101025 - 04:52 (UTC)

And there are other buttons accessed by moving this pointy thingy around, too... look, it's like, magical, or something... ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101025 - 05:38 (UTC)

Free beer for admins here[edit]

So what do you all make of this? Anything? ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101019 - 18:27 (UTC)

Seems like a lot of the current admins have become somewhat lazy and/or inaktive lately, including myself. *Takes a nap* yaaaaaaaawn...I wouldn't object to a new admin, 'twould probably be good to have fresh blood in an adminship position. Feedback from more of the current admins is a good place to start. BLELLEDLELE *sits and waits for something to happen* --THE 18:30, 19 Octodest 2010 (UTC)
I am also in agreement with Mr Definitive Article here. We're keeping on top of vandalism and such, but this seems to be the only real time the admins get together these days. REAL LIFE SUCKS MAAAN! -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 10:58, 21 Octodest 2010 (UTC)
/me Considers adding Athyria back if another round is shared. In all fairness though, we OP someone, and they instantly become lazy, it's a job requirement or something i guess. --Silent Penguin 03:44, 25 Octodest 2010 (UTC)

*trundles in a trolley of beer* C'mon, guys. Do something. Like... eventually.

Besides, could, say, rms actually get any lazier? Or T3canolis, what does he ever do, anyway? And Gruntled's an admin on uncyclopedia, so opping him here could be pretty funny as well as completely ineffective, since he may not even notice. Fonchezzz seems to be completely insane, but he is rather helpful at times, and is incredibly lazy already as well. And there's always that Hello hello fellow; who cares if he doesn't want it? And whoever else... but, see, could they really get any lazier? What kind of excuse is that? ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101102 - 18:10 (UTC)

So who is Gruntled on Uncy?--Sig.png (Talk) (Contributions) 19:47, 2 Novelniver 2010 (UTC)

Not sure why people think I don't want adminship. I may have confused you with someone else... or I may not have. So what's with that, anyhow? ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101103 - 00:28 (UTC)
There was a day... way back when... when I was a genuine candidate for adminship. Back in the day when the Duck Clan flourished. But those days are over now. The duck clan is dead. My number one side kick is long since inactive. I'm a lone ranger these days, and as previously mentioned... rather lazy, because ALAS! There is real life at hand (and a number of alternate fake lives that I have on the interwebs as well...)--Duckwiki2.png|Fonchezzz| Quacking| 23:42, 2 Novelniver 2010 (UTC)
But that's the problem! There are no real candidates currently, are there? Why do you think I'm trying to get them so drunk? ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101103 - 00:28 (UTC)
Well if I were a candidate, I'd have no idea how to use all those fun whips and diddles... that the admins have. Like... I dont know how to work stuff. I just ya know... do my stuff when I feel like it, i.e vomiting my thoughts on the key board. Have you ever read my articles?! How does a maniac like that function a website?? (I mean... something other than a free webs) All that said however, I can be pretty freaking active when I feel like it. AND... Im a duck.--Duckwiki2.png|Fonchezzz| Quacking| 01:01, 3 Novelniver 2010 (UTC)
The problem with this discussion is that we need someone who...
1. Is very active
2. Has been here for quite a while.
However, there's not many people who are both of those things. Actually, there's no one. I know you guys have already said it, but I want to state it officially, because it's a bit of a problem. Are you going to trust adminship with a newbie, who might do something stupid or suddenly change heart, or play it safe and give it to a familiar user, who might just disappear or never make use of their powers?
That's the choice. We have to make a decision. And as soon as possible, please.--Sig.png (Talk) (Contributions) 05:50, 3 Novelniver 2010 (UTC)
I actually think no one cares about this issue.--ColbertNation 12:19, 3 Novelniver 2010 (UTC)
I sort of care. In that it's kind of annoying that the admins are so inactive. *mumbles incoherently and wanders off* ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101103 - 12:40 (UTC)
Being an admin is boring work, everyone wants it until they have it, maybe some of you guys should stop complaining about admins being lazy and do some of the tasks you leave to admins, that you can easily do yourself, QD, VFD, Categorizing, Work In progress management. If an admin sees what you did, and doesn't like it, they can revert it, with some grumbles. But if you save them an hours worth of sifting and cost them ten minutes, they have come out better off because of it. Also, the only thing you guys can't do, that we can is ban spammers, delete pages with QD/VFD and feature articles iirc. We don't mind people doing what is typically known as admin work for the admins, what we don't like is when someone comes in and does it wrong :P. Active admins can be contacted via Skype or email/talkpage, so please, muck in and help to reduce our work. --Silent Penguin 14:16, 3 Novelniver 2010 (UTC)
Good point. All admins do different is ban people and update the feature. Hmm, come to think of it we could do with a feature updater because I have become lazier than a lazy thing. Sorry, not feeling creative enough to think of something there. :P -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 19:20, 3 Novelniver 2010 (UTC)
So... is the job hard or is it easy? Why not just make every active dependable user a semi admin capable of doing such things?! Then it wouldn't matter if someone was lazy. We could have a committee for these duties. --Duckwiki2.png|Fonchezzz| Quacking| 22:15, 3 Novelniver 2010 (UTC)
To put it quite bluntly, some people just aren't responsible enough for the role, and others we just plain don't know either way, however, the problem is, admins can unban themselves, so if an admin began misbehaving then other admins would be powerless to stop them, just like normal users are. Only a bureaucratic could remove their admins before banning them to make sure the ban cannot be removed. -- 00:54, 4 Novelniver 2010 (UTC)

Okay, here's what I'm not understanding... what actually seems to require an admin is really quite simple - bannings, deletions and a few odd things like the mainpage and the site notice and whatnot. So what would be so wrong with opping someone else, someone knowledgeable and trustworthy, mind, surely there are some oldtimers like that, right? ...right? Well, if there is, anyway, to help out, what with the whole folks not actually being around that much, and all?

The other stuff, though... eh. Point, and points. I think I might start up another forum topic for that... *promptly gets sidetracked* ~ Pointy.png *shifty eyes* (talk) • (stalk) -- 20101104 - 03:41 (UTC)

Not a bad idea, except most of the old timers actually perished in the Great Wikia War of 2009. The rest just died of natural causes. -- Hindleyak  Converse?blogClick here! 21:16, 6 Novelniver 2010 (UTC)
Sorry about the losses caused by Wikia and Lord Jimbo. I could imagine Illogic could still be flourishing. Having admins ain't important anyway. Why does this forum exist? Who cares?--Colonel Sanders 21:31, 6 Novelniver 2010 (UTC)
I still wander in from time to time, but not sure if I contribute enough to count. Besides, my computer seems to have a head cold or something. It locks up at random times, and sometimes before it even gets to the login screen. Maybe I'll get a new one for Christmas (crosses fingers). simsilikesims 02:14, 18 Novelniver 2011 (UTC)
