id make another low brow comment to add to the pile, but i cant be bothered :P . Back to the site maintainance crap ;) after the responce he got from wikia in enquiring about monobook, he has decided we should try to locate some new hosting options. That sucks. The idea of going independent has always been appealing to me, dunno about you but it gives a sense of more ownership - ie we aren't governed by what wikia thinks. I've got misgivings about free hosts as I've never tried them myself but I was thinking bandwidth limits might be an issue with paid hosts (I dunno, would 1Gig a month be enough for a wiki of our size?) - not a problem at wikia as they sorted everything out. Course you know, it would mean more effort on our parts ;). Begging for donations might be the only way to keep the site going through rocky periods. Well, Our website has a DB size, discounting images of around 8 or 9 mg. So the base versions linode (Dedicated visual RAM:360mb, Diskspace:12GB, transfer limit:200GB/month, $20/month) and WiredTree offer (Dedicated visual RAM:384mb, Diskspace:40GB, transfer limit:600GB/month, $45/month) are ample for ours, and most likely several other websites needs (hence the suggestion of sharing costs. These two providers are non contract, meaning we arn't tied down to them for longer than what we pay for. WiredTree is slightly better, and we have a managed control panel, and Linode is empty, we have to manage everything ourselves unlike WT, but both provide fantastic reliability. We can also create a script that prevents images being downloaded and uploaded should the transfer limit becomes a bit tight. Asema thinks Wikifur and nerd42 suggested that the adventure wiki on EditThis might be interested in going solo. That sounds like a good deal actually - about £12 or £25 per month, so the cheapest would be what, £144 a year at cheapest? We aren't looking for any more admins at the moment because we have enough for our size of wiki. Plus, being an admin ain't all that different to being a regular user - we only get about 1 vandal a week and there's not that much stuff to delete (we try and keep all we can). Ideally we'd want a new admin to be sensible and know the site's guidelines and policies well - we can't just go around promoting anybody, y'know! :-P

I saw your attempts to modernise the ol' template, and I think it's probably good idea. But, any replacement would still have to work pretty hard to overthrow the establishment. I think this needs a bit more help. I don't know if you use it much but it could still be good. I think the articles Ive written for it really show its potentials. You mean like this?
Just leave a space at the beginning of the line.

Or you could use the <pre>Text goes here</pre> tags which achieves the same thing but with no wiki formatting. Beware, there is no word wrap for this!

Alternatively, you could use <font face=courier>Yer text</font>. Par example:

There's a couple of ways to make text larger. The simplest is to use some basic HTML tags:

<big>Your text here</big>

You can nest these to make text even larger aswell:

<big><big>Your text here</big></big>

A second way to do it is this:

<p style="font-size:100%;line-height:110%">Your text here</p>

Where the percentage size of the text is adjustable. You can also change the line spacing with line height percentage.

I click on upload image right? Then when I get the image up it gives me the option to make the image larger or smaller and to the right and to the left and all that. Acquiring Articles from other sites

I was wondering if I can put articles from other wikias that may be being deleted on Illogicopedia when they get deleted? I was wondering because I've seen some good articles on Uncyclopedia up for deletion. Thanks.

Yes, by all means do so! We have a guide on How to import pages from other wikis that might be of use... the best way is to copy/paste - some text taken from the page:

1. Copy the source text of the article you are moving
2. Paste into new article on Illogicopedia (which you will have to create)
3. Leave a note on the talk page and paste edit log where appropriate/necessary. See here for an example.

The final step is to state where you got the article from. Illogicopedia already has a selection of templates for content moved from other wikis:

• Uncyclopedia: {{Moved from Uncyc}}, {{Uncyc Spork}}
• Wikipedia: {{Moved from Wikipedia}}, {{Wikipedia}}
• Genericpedia (:-P): {{Spooned}}

Alternatively, send an admin the exported XML file and they will upload it for you.

OK, here's a rough guide on how to insert a picture to the article.

1. Upload an image to the database (or find an existing one, such as Image:Example.jpg).
2. Use something like the following code to insert the picture as a thumbnail:

   [[Image:Example.jpg|thumb|230px|Caption goes here]]

   Where 'Example.jpg' is the name and extension of the pic you want to insert. Just copy and paste it from the page name. You can also alter the '230px' to change the size of the image, or remove the 'thumb' bit to get rid of the grey frame.

I used to be an admin on ED. I still use the site, but I'm just here because it's down and I'm bored. I may have a look around this place and approach it with an open mind. Glad to hear of it, and honoured to have an (ex) ED admin on Illogic! We don't really have any affiliation with ED but we have had EDers in the past. Uncyclopedia has become a bit bureaucratic recently and way too deletionist so we get a lot of their estranged users hanging about. Uncyclopedia seem to insist on deleting anything that's actually funny, and keeping the stuff that's not. Having said that, #5 and #6 of the Illogicopedia:Commandments don't sit too well with me (hell, even Wikipedia isn't censored like that), but I may do some more editing on that Grawp page.--MonkeyMang 14:38, 3 Ergust 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I have seen it myself: admins compete to delete - not good IMO.
Commandments #5 and #6 are more about cyberbullying and such like - their inclusion/wording has been debated since the dawn of time (well, Illogicopedia anyway) and, as mentioned, are just suggestions for user behaviour. They're there to stop vandals and bullies but are otherwise not really taken too seriously - we like to take a laid back stance.
