Speaking of Rush... I recently discovered a Canadian tv series called Trailer Park Boys. I think it's about the funniest show I've ever seen. They did 10 seasons and 3 or more films. That's amazing.

I feel alot less enthusiastic about Illogicopedia than I used to. For one thing, I think real life news and culture has changed so much that the need for something like this is alot lessened. Real life news is filled with completely insane things like Donald Trump being President and the well-deserved trolling of Shia Labeuf. How do you make a satire of a world that has already turned itself into a cartoon filled with screaming children?

Well, all of Asimov's books tie together into the same timeline and they all lead to Galaxia. He doesn't seem to be writing it as a satire.

I actually don't think we're getting Orwell. I mean, the surveillance is happening, and the punishment of "thought criminals", and the doublethink is real. (Hegelian/Marxist postmodernism is all over academia) But in terms of sexuality and questions about what it means to be a person, what we're getting is much more like Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World." --Nerd42 (talk) 00:10, 20 Arply 2017 (UTC)

@Galaxia: Yep, even the Robot Series. The Robot Series can't be set "thousands of years before" Foundation without being in the same timeline as Foundation now can it. I don't want to spoil the later Foundation books, but I'll just say that character interactions and updates on locations from the Robot Series happen directly referencing it.

@Orwell: Yes on the class divisions. Science hasn't quite delivered on the cloning yet but the real point of that in the novel was that it was reducing the control of parents over the raising of children and we are certainly seeing that with the pushing of women into the workplace so that their children need daycare, (like somehow being a mother to young children isn't doing something worthwhile) plus the epidemic of fatherlessness. --Nerd42 (talk) 00:26, 20 Arply 2017 (UTC)

@Orwell: There are definitely elements of Orwell. The US uses war to create jobs and conspiracy theorists on YouTube pretending to be independent news sources can delete videos about predictions that haven't come true.
