==One Thing==
One thing of note is the Vandalpediatemplate uses a template Template:Vandalpedia formatting so that the main page cannot be messed about with too much. I was looking at the <do not edit> bits and thought i might tell you that that is what the formatting template is for, hope that helps you.--Silent PenguinLeave Me Alone 09:45, 18 January 2007 (EST)--Silent PenguinLeave Me Alone 10:07, 18 January 2007 (EST)

- Putting it back after giving examples and keeping it somewhat messed up is the issue. Or one of them; the edit prior to this one is quite warn-worthy (or more, had it been around longer) in itself. While the former by itself might've made for a less-official one, together I'd quite say it made for a warning. --The Divine Fluffalizer 18:35, 1 Jumbly 2007 (UTC)

as you may notice, it greys out the forum tabs when they are unedited for a while, i was wondering if it could be applied to work on our VFH, so featured articles are greyed out,im sorta using it more as an example than a thing to edit i guess. i just thought it might be a good idea. anyway, whatever.--Silent Penguin] 17:49, 16 Serpeniver 2007 (UTC)
- I supposed it could be added if the pages keep getting edited, but the more important thing is sorting them from the open votes, which I've added a thing for. Closed votes are to have the template on their page marked by adding an additional parameter - status=featured or status=failed, depending on outcome. It's been forgotten on the last two, and it's not really documented anywhere as of yet. (oops) Once marked, votes dissapear from the Department of Limelight and the current votes display and the page will say "VOTING CLOSED" above the vote, with the voting link (not edit on top of page, that remains) removed. I guess I'll add a note about that to begin with, along with pages listing archived votes. -The Divine Fluffalizer 21:03, 16 Serpeniver 2007 (UTC)

What would you say is your policy with the use of the mexicans template? --
12:28, 30 Serpeniver 2007 (UTC)- If something is funny or gives a very strong impression of being nonsense, then I let it be regardless of length. If it's mediocre and short, I'd put it in. If someone else has placed it, I usually leave it up to them to remove it unless it becomes very obvious that it's not needed. --The Divine Fluffalizer 12:36, 30 Serpeniver 2007 (UTC)

- Seems Wikia has changed the version of the DPL wiki extension which the VFH vote listing depends on, and the new has some issues handling ' characters and the \n used for linebreaks. Uncyclopedia seems to have had the same problem briefly, but changed things to work around the issue. I should have it done here too soon. --The Divine Fluffalizer 01:29, 27 Octodest 2007 (UTC)

It could also come in handy should anyone ever tell you to "sign here" as you could then place the signed fish on the line, thus satisfying the requirement. (hmm, that would make for a nice fish addition... oh dear, there I go turning nonsense into more nonsense yet again) --The Divine Fluffalizer 17:58, 5 Ditzimber 2007 (UTC)

Code Guy[edit source]
User:Silent Penguin/main page, could you take a look at that and get some sort of solution going, the problem i see is the css forces the <span> tag to go around the stuff that appears. is there some way you can make it so you can assign a variable via something, i dunno, i tried something like that, but it didn't work as i expected, so, if you could please play ;), i noticed ED had a JS version, which takes up a massive number of lines, so we can use that as a last resort. but the css is a much better solution, and i like the rollover insted of the click--Silent PenguinLeave Me Alone 01:02, 26 Ditzimber 2007 (UTC)
- There's likely no simple and clean solution, if I've got the problem right. Javascript might be the only way, but if used, remember to make sure the page remains usable with it disabled. But just what is the goal, ie. how is it to be applied to the main page? Once that is clear, mayhaps the problem can be simplified, making a complex solution unnecessary. --Fluffalizer 07:24, 27 Ditzimber 2007 (UTC)
- the idea is to have elements of the main page hidden so that they only appear if hovered, ED have a JS one that works with a click on a link, but the hovering is a much nicer solution.I did try it with just those sig things, but noticed it was hard to select ones below as they would be dislpaced by sections above when those where opened, which is why i want to make it so that all the section selectors can be above the actual field where the content appears. the point behind this is to nave many hideable areas where more content can be placed, and to hide stuff like featured content, in an attempt to take the focus away from articles, and towards other projects, which would have similar collapsible boxes, but without sacrificing the two bar style of the front page--Silent PenguinLeave Me Alone 13:46, 27 Ditzimber 2007 (UTC)
- Can you do something with the now-added de-expanding hidden field? --Fluffalizer 18:49, 27 Ditzimber 2007 (UTC)
- I managed to make something acceptable, but something isnt quite right, obvously imagine it without those extra titles. we might have to go with the clickable version, its a shame really.--Silent PenguinLeave Me Alone 21:31, 27 Ditzimber 2007 (UTC)
- There you have it without extra titles. Though the problem with having it hide on leaving the title is any hidden links cannot be clicked. So the contracting part will either have to be placed after links if such are to be included, or links be left below the hidden part. Either that, or non-contracting hidden parts will have to be used in places. But if used in moderation (we could do it with the second feature - which can then be lengthened to about the same length as the first as it then doesn't take up more space - but I think we should have one visible anyway), hover-expanding of one of the flavors could work. --Fluffalizer 08:38, 28 Ditzimber 2007 (UTC)

- On the subject of the article improvement drive - my aim is to save the articles, and to be fair a one off (for a while) mass improving won't do any harm. But I like your idea of merging content together - it works we should do more of it. -- 20:40, 29 Jeremy 2008 (UTC)
Peer Review[edit source]
Hey DF. We're trying to get the Peer Review thing off the ground and Seppy said it might be something you'd agree to do. I'd do it myself, but I don't know how. He said to give you the template: {{RT}}
He said that you would probably know what to do to set it up. I thought you might set up a whole new category on forum, rather than just a page, but do what you think is best. SP said that it will be essentially the same as Uncyc, except for the name, of course. All the flexible bits, he said to leave to you. BTW, we thought we'd call it "Peer Review" for now, for lack of a better name.
I hope folks really want to make this happen. I think it might be a good thing, although I'm not sure how it will work. Seppy set up an example at the bottom of the Peer Review page on forum if you're interested. Let me know if you have any questions - I'll do my best, or ask Seppy. Thanks for your help. --MathPoet 16:45, 21 Farbleum 2008 (UTC)

HTML tag Sandalisms[edit source]
Hey, you might have noticed our latest vandalisms, so, i was hoping you might be able to plug the pages effected, being the main page and recent changes. We managed to plug this sort of thing when flameviper did it, so im assuming the same can be done to solve this problem too. --Silent PenguinLeave Me Alone 18:49, 14 Jumbly 2008 (UTC)
- Not so simple, I'm afraid. The first thing Flameviper did - a little css hack - should indeed now be plugged, but the floating image thing isn't. Quite simply, any editable template included for direct display makes it possible to plaster things on the page using absolute positioning. To fix this, some sort of filtering of the template would be needed instead of allowing full wikicode. Might be possible to make an extension for it once we have our own wiki installation. --Fluffalizer 06:21, 15 Jumbly 2008 (UTC)
