It is because he is a scruffy looking Swedish man who wears odd hats and for no other reason. That is the sole justification and it is sufficient to justify all of his fame and success. Notch is also an omnipresent being with the ability to fly, shoot lasers, (from his eyes! Eye lasers!) and program Java.
He is known as the Java God. To help him insert his catheter, he has hired 13 employees with Minecraft chick as the company hooker. He uses Minecraft to channel the players energy into a vortex which he hopes to use someday to get to his homeworld, which is IllogiLand.
And then _jeb derped up the vortex and changed the direction that Earth orbits around the Sun. No biggie.
